Pros

I haven't noticed anything good as I spent only 1 year there

Cons

Not sure where to start with but let me start from hiring, 1.I asked for director position but the recruiter told me that the role has opened for Associate director role only but after I agreed with the offer they asked me to apply to a role which has a mention of "Tower Director" . When I question them, I didnt received any response but as I already decided to join them, i went ahead and joined 2. Post joining I was eager to start taking care of the role I discussed but then to my shock I noticed I had been put into a role which is way different than what I was interviewed for. When I raised this point, I didn't receive any satisfactory response from the stakeholders. It's a challenge in cognizant to get support in such cases from both Leaders and HR and seems it's a regular practice which is being followed. 3. I spent a few months and though I managed to build rapport with clients I was not happy with the role as it was not the type of work which will help me grow. I started talking to my leadership for a change in program and then I was told that I cannot be released before 1 year and that's cognizant policy. How come making someone work in a role which he/she was not interviewed for and does not use their skill set properly makes sense? It seems cognizant is more focused on putting bodies in their engagement rather than helping people grow professionally 4.You cannot have visibility of relevant work unless you come out of your existing engagement. Also even after coming out they will try within the same practice first , irrespective of the mismatch . I was told to find a matching engagement of my own first and then go to the open pool. Why? If I dont know of any such engagement and go to an open pool, I will be given 3 weeks time to find a suitable one at any location and if I dont move into any billable role, I will be asked to leave in another 2 weeks. That's where I realized that Cognizant is not at all a good place to work for as they lack transparency, professionalism and ethics. Also, they change policies to hurt people who are leaving them. I noticed after leaving that, they have only paid for 5 days of unused PTO instead for all the days. The reason is, they changed their policy with immediate effect and there was no communication sent to people who are leaving. Whereas the programs are requesting people to give notice to help them out. So , cognizant is billing customers for the time and also exploiting people who are helping them but not paying them their earned leaves. If you do not have any ambition or looking for a professional environment or growth related aspiration then go for cognizant.

Pros

Remote work Competitive compensation Provides mobile phone service

Cons

- Terrible reputation within the Healthcare industry (will be difficult for you to get employed by a top consulting firm if you are coming from Cognizant) - Always felt like I was just filling a open seat when I worked at Cognizant - Several people who joined the healthcare practice around the same time as me quit within six months to return to their previous company or take a new job - Only ever really got to know 2-3 people my entire time working for Cognizant in a virtual environment (300,000+ person company) - Annual raise is pitiful (2-3%) - Bonus is based on individual and company performance; employees will only get about 80% of their bonus if they meet expectations - No promotion within two years of hire date - Recruiting sells a picture of Cognizant that is not reality (e.g., can get promoted any time, Flex Fridays, unlimited sick days that can be used as PTO, opportunity for cross-functional work, big focus on career development, etc.) - No meaningful performance management structure or role competency guidelines; employees are required to regularly set career goals but they are meaningless and don't have any recognizable correlation or effect on career progression - Leadership admits, "Cognizant has a habit of staffing projects with people who don't have the necessary expertise to do the work" - Top healthcare leadership has left the company rapid fire in the past year - Leadership does not support the projects they sell and will throw the project team under the bus when the project falls apart - Leadership may not be present at all on a project; worked for 6 months without any type of project supervisor or someone checking in on my work, which caused me to be totally unmotivated - Leadership subjects project teams to verbal abuse (aggressive use of profanity, hanging up on calls, responds with "I don't care what you are saying" when trying to explain something) - Employees have mental breakdowns due to work and need to take time off to recover (two members of my three person team had to take a leave of absence) - Human resources does not act on these types of escalations; no actions or responses when I raised concerns about not having a supervisor or getting any guidance whatsoever on my projects - The IT team and process is a total nightmare - getting the technical support needed to be successful on your projects is a huge challenge

Pros

1 and done interview. They offered me full-time salaried position.

Cons

From the start, onboarding was rough. Ideally, starting a new position you have someone who introduces themselves and knows "What is going on" and "How to get you involved". Neither of these things happened, and instead I found myself in the middle of processess ... process emails and process people doing process things but have no connection or clue about WHO they are working with. It was alienating. When I was assigned to a project and team, the team did very little to introduce me to the project and help me integrate into the processes. Communication was consistently minimal, short, and poor ... and there's a culture of "whip-cracking" when you don't meet someone's poorly outlined expectations. Being a process-laden environment, if all of the technology worked flawlessly it wouldn't be so terrible. The Company Intranet systems are a nightmare. Extremely confusing, difficult to find what you need, difficult to work with.
