Pros

Great opportunities for challenging and rewarding projects, a highly dedicated staff, solid organization/historically stable, mission-driven, great benefits

Cons

Limited growth opportunities and staff development (outside of tuition assistance, which is great), concerns with new leadership's respect for staff, lack of clear, actionable strategies.

Bureaucratic, political, and outdated.

Pros

Nice Benefits for full time employees

Cons

- Rampant Politics (I've seen teams outright refuse to work with each other) - Incredible amounts of red tape that make it impossible to get things done quickly - Personnel decisions made based on cronyism, not competence. - Tools and processes that are at least ten years out of date. - Many managers more interested in protecting their fiefdoms than in getting anything done. - Contractors are treated the worst I've seen in over twenty years - Management who thinks nothing of setting unreasonable standards (ex: mandatory unpaid overtime) - Top-heavy organization, hiring more directors even as workers are being laid off

Pros

Decent pay for a remote role. The people I work with are some of the most intelligent, hard working, and thoughtful people. There is no "bloat" on my team everyone is a contributor.

Cons

I feel like I don't fully understand this organization. I've been in my role for almost a year now And I struggle on a daily basis to fully understand how my contributions are actually making an impact for the greater team. When I joined, there was no on boarding process by my team. My first 4 months were spent with me just asking questions and connecting with colleagues and really just trying to make an effort to put basic pieces together. I still find myself asking what feel like very basic questions. I would say, most importantly, my boss is awful. By far the worst manager i've ever had, and i've had some pretty challenging folks. They are the most unqualified person to be a manager I have ever reported to. I have more credentials and industry knowledge in higher education than they do yet They constantly make decisions that go against any sort of logic or sound reasoning. They pivot constantly snd provide little if any guidance or support. I don't know that I will last here much longer.
