Pros

Good working with clients and good co-workers. Pay is not bad.

Cons

Clinical supervisor in Greeley is very difficult to work with. Agency is very demanding of staff so it's impossible to have a work/life balance. Atmosphere created by management is almost toxic.

We appreciate your insight! The CVNA has 128 year plus history of providing healthcare services in Colorado. Last year CVNA – Denver and RVNA – Greeley merged. The merger provides many opportunities for our clients going forward. Unfortunately, sorry your experience was unfavorable. As the largest home health agency in the state of Colorado, we are very focused in putting the patient and our employees first. We work very hard to understand the availability of our clinicians. As a non profit, CVNA takes pride in providing timely and highly trained clinical staff and are rated 4.5 stars by CMS. Again, thanks for your insight - we take your feedback very seriously.

Pros

Reasonable second income for retirees, refresher RNs Pleasant work conditions, daytime hours, congenial clients and co-workers

Cons

Most of the year, the primary business is foot care. Nurses average 10 hours a week. The benefit of these chunks of free time in between clinics has disappeared over the last few years with the expectation of daily email, mandatory monthly phone calls or meetings. You never really feel like you get away from this job, because if a client calls about their appointment, it is up to the nurse to return the call-not office staff.

The Wellness Division of the CVNA provides immeasurable value to seniors with the 150 footcare clinics on the Front Range. The care of the feet can speak to the health of our patients. As you stated, many of our Wellness Nurses are retired and “want to stay in the game of nursing” . Unfortunately documentation and record keeping continues to grow in the healthcare industry. With 150 clinics and all the patients within all those clinics - it is a monumental effort to make sure everything runs smoothly. We ask our Wellness Nurses to manage their clinics as well perform the footcare. Not easy but we are always committee to modify processes to run more efficiently. In fact we have a current project in place to make improvements to the documentation and billing processes that should make things easier for our Wellness nurses. Thank you for your insight and employment with the CVNA.

Pros

I am a 27 year employee and have loved my work at CVNA! I was able to craft my schedule in a way that worked to raise my daughter. I have worked with many caring, wonderful people through the years. I now manage an off site program. I feel totally supported by my immediate supervisor.

Cons

I think the RN's have a lot of responsibility to assess and meet the needs of the patient and the paperwork (on the computer) is cumbersome. It is challenging for RN's to oversee LPN's because of the paperwork so an LPN must find a willing RN to tag team with. LPN's are not able to do as much in home care as they do in the hospital.

Appreciate your insight. Our business model has been expanding to include increase hiring of LPNs. From our perspective, many nurses – LPNs and RNs join CVNA and the home healthcare industry because of the flexibility and ability to have control of your schedule. We are continuing to refine processes for the RN/LPN working relationship. Your thoughtful words describes the caring and compassion that are the primary focus of the CVNA culture.
