Pros

Great culture and work life balance with way above average career paths in multiple divisions.

Cons

Need to keep hiring sales people that don't come from legacy storage backgrounds. Technical pre-sales people are not innovators necessary to grow the company to the next level.

A Cool Company to Work For

Pros

I love working at Commvault. The culture is unlike any other company I have ever experienced and I really feel that the company values me as an employee. The work I do is meaningful, and contributes to the organization as a whole, which is a huge motivator. There are quarterly calls for my department, marketing, as well as for the organization as a whole. These calls are great, as they keep the company, which spans across the world, on the same page and keep employees informed. The headquarters in Tinton Falls is an incredible building. Each floor has game rooms that employees are encouraged to use, there is an on-site gym, and of course, there is the slide open for employee use at any hour. The cafeteria is also great, with good food and reasonable prices.

Cons

The company is growing, which is great, but means that often there are re-orgs and changes in management.

Thank you for sharing your experience here at Commvault! The culture at Commvault is such an important factor for employee success and satisfaction and something that we take great pride in. I love that you are taking advantage of the game rooms, gym, and cafeteria offered at headquarters. We are a growing company which means that change is inevitable, however, this provides many career advancement opportunities for our employees. - Jesper Helt – CHRO

Pros

None. Really. There are so many things, that are wrong with Commvault, that I am really struggling to come up with something positive about it.

Cons

- US management is very disrespectful to UK and AU branches. C level management have no problem cursing at you on the phone - HR department is divided on multiple locations and is very incompetent, slow and rude as well. I left half an year ago and I still don't have all the neccessarry papers they are obliged to provide me, when leaving. Because of the missing documents I can't do properly my taxes and most probably would pay fines for this. - Team leads and team managers are threatening to fire you directly with no warning - No respect to your private life and time - they call you and demand you to work overtime and they don't accept no excuses - They lie about the job and position itself - presenting it as one, but after you start working it turns out to be something completely different. The trick is that nothing is written in the contract for job description or everyday duties. They also give you a little higher salary in order to trick you into signing. They do this because they don't have enough people to do all the workload, they obviously are not capable of handling. People are leaving very often, but that is also hidden from you. - The almighty main software, called Commvault(Simpana in previous years) is biggest lie they sell to customers. Actually even the sales are not very good as more and more people realize what garbage Commvault software is. On paper the almighty Commvault can do everything - from VM backups, to tape backups, DB backups, volume and LUN backups, etc. In reality the thing can't do any of those properly. The software is so bad, they are forced to hire loads of new people just to handle all the tickets and issues coming from clients.

It sounds like you are very frustrated. Our culture and shared values include passion, respect, and integrity which is why your comments concern me. Your experience at Commvault is not the experience that any employee should have. As a growing global organization, we have HR partners located around the world so that every Vaulter has access to regional support. Since our beginning, people have been the center of our success. Without our talented teams, we would not be where we are today and continue to enjoy the success we do. I am really sorry to hear that your comments about our product. I do find it surprising though, as for six years straight we have been recognized as the leader of The Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Center Backup and Recovery Software. We also have a 98% satisfaction rate from our customers. While we are not perfect, all things would indicate that we are moving in the right direction. I want to assure you that we listen to all our current and former employees’ feedback. This is one of the reasons that we offer various channels to share your thoughts with us. I encourage you to reach out to me directly if I can assist you in any way. Jesper Helt – CHRO
