Pros

Team-mates are cool and good people.

Cons

Low Pay for High Expectations You’re essentially working two roles (field tech + delivery/logistics) but only getting paid for one. The compensation doesn’t match the workload or cost of living in places like NYC. Glorified Amazon Driver at Times A large part of the job feels like package delivery—hauling gear, picking up parts, transporting equipment—rather than purely IT support. No Real Investment in Systems or Infrastructure Company cuts corners constantly—refusing to invest in better systems or workflows that would make the job more efficient. Unwelcomed Pickups at Third-Party Stores Being sent to places like CVS to pick up parts where staff look at you like an inconvenience. It’s awkward, inefficient, and unnecessary. No Real Support for Inventory or Equipment Storage Instead of providing a warehouse or proper tech depot, you're forced to load a family van full of equipment and dig through it in the street just to find the right part. Chaos in the middle of NYC. Denied Basic Tools for the Job Requests for helpful equipment like a hand truck get denied. You’re expected to carry heavy boxes for 1–2 blocks just to reach client sites. Inventory System Feels Outdated and Clunky The system used for tracking parts and inventory feels stuck in the ‘90s. It’s not intuitive, wastes time, and adds unnecessary frustration. Micromanagement Meets Lack of Real Support You’re often micromanaged on details that don’t matter while the big-picture support you actually need—tools, resources, pay—gets ignored.

Pros

Agent level staff good people to work with

Cons

Very high turnover/Very low paying -short term contractors paid excessively high from agencies while direct fulltime employees rarely see any increase in pay-regardless of top performance reviews. Sr Service Desk leadership very micro-management style of leadership. No employee commitment or support-very client satisfaction focused.

Pros

They pay for your mileage and troubleshooting experience.

Cons

There is no real growth within the company. They will push you to go into management. They do not value your time or expertise. I've worked for this company for 8 years and made a measly $16.25. They will hire you to sit at a company that gutted their IT department and bring in people from Compucom to pick up the slack. I find it embarrassing when your average Joe working at those companies gets paid 2x the amount that Compucom pays yet we are "critical" to the operations of those companies. Compucom is a scam and needs a major overhaul. This company drove me out of their operations because they wanted to operate on a skeleton crew. I left the company to become a software engineer. They did offer me another position but once again, Compucom will never pay you the same salary or even match the other people who are not contracted. If you do decide to work for Compucom, do it only for 2 years and get the hell out. Do not waste your time with this company. I'm still trying to make up what I should've been paid for years ago.

Pros

The position responsibilities were very manageable. Management was flexible with timetables for complex tasks.

Cons

Pay was low. My position was posted the same day I gave my two weeks' notice at 2 more dollars an hour.

Pros

Little to no qualification expected for entry level positions In-depth training on CRM and contract specific tasks Good learning experience for anyone new to inbound call centers and help desk support Reimbursement for passing job related certificate exams

Cons

Hardly any opportunity for growth Low pay Inefficiencies are overlooked due to the client companies and CompuCom management having to compromise on help desk procedures Job responsibilities and job redundancy subject to change at any moment. Changes tend to be made frequently. The SEI position is contingently volatile or could have a high turnover rate due to the demand for this role relying directly on the customers needs. If a client no longer wishes to employee CompuCom subcontractors to facilitate their company’s help desk support, your assignment is immediately obsolete I would like to add as a final con a composition of the contract I was assigned. This is one of the larger contracts as I know. There are typically around 25-30 Service Desk Tech I’s (SEI’s) employed at one time on this contract at the time I left. 1 SEII responsible for the onboarding and training of new hires. Other responsibilities are overseeing the operation of our email queue and making sure everything is routed properly as well as tying up any loose ends. There were 2 SEIII’s and their technical role is as a supervisor. The main responsibility is to monitor the SEI’s activity status on the phone lines and maintaining metric goals day by day. Their immediately subsequent priority was to watch a “PIN chat” where any SEI assisting an employee with something the client desired the employee verified for, would provide the employees name, ID number, and 4 digit PIN that the employee has provided verbally when requested. The SEIII then has to run the employee ID number through an excel spread sheet to confirm the name and 4 digit PIN provided match, and then respond to the SEI’s chat message “yes” or “no”. The last duty that I am aware of is to import 4 digit PINs to the excel spreadsheet from emails that are sent in by management within the client company when new employees are onboarded. The SEIIII is the contract manager and while I’m obviously not aware of all of their responsibilities, the most relevant one was that they were the primary Liaison between CompuCom and the client company in meetings where help desk goals and procedures were discussed.

They don't care about their employees

Pros

Teams and people are great and enjoyable to work with

Cons

They treat everyone as though they are worthless, they know they are going to let you go long before they do, they make sure that you don't find out so you finish whatever project you are working on and train what will be your replacement and they fire you without notice. Their severance pay is comparably low
