The work/life balance is excellent unfortunately because many people are not fully engaged in their jobs. There is continuous significant restructuring and reorganization. Company direction on attaining topline growth and/or bottom line growth changes multiple times throughout the year. The marketing acumen is very poor at ConAgra. As a marketing/brand person, you can get some pretty solid general management experience, but within a consumer company, you ultimately can't continue to cost cut your way to brand health and growth. ConAgra is running into that challenge now as they have been forced to take price increases (driven by commodity increases, but also driven by low margins due to weak brands) but have struggled because their brands often compete primarily on price.

Lack of project focus within and between departments. The is more data entry work than ever before and not enough time to work on the things we were hired to do. This is a far cry from doing the things that matter most, and must do number 6, "Nourish our people...". Everyday I come in at least an hour early to get caught up before the chaos begins. And even then it's impossible to catch up because once the day begins you get calls from every department asking you where is thier paper work for the process you need to start a process. Then there are the days when you have nothing, but back to back meeings from 8 until 5. Then you stay an hour to two hours later trying to finish up that last bit of work to get the large project that you actually want to work on going. By this point you are interrupted by someone from upper management who tells you that you know have another #1 priority to have completed before you go home for that day. By the end of the day you really have not completed much of anything and are now working from home until 10 or 11 at night hoping that the next day will be better. Then the day starts over with cDAT requests, expense reports that are 3 months over due, trial request forms, sustainability report cards, kronos, SAP system spec updates and loads, corrugated bid work and documents, and e-mails and phone calls from people nagging because you are falling behind on your bigger projects. Then you sit there and think to yourself, "This was never like this when I first arrived here, what happened?
