Pros

The ability to network with Vendors is fantastic. the vendor sponsored turkey at thanksgiving is nice. 15 days of vacation to start is ok.

Cons

Connection treats their employees like a commodity. while it is true that sales reps have unlimited earning potential, everyone else is paid 3/4 of what the rest of the industry pays (at best). They keep moving goal posts in terms of bonuses (for those of us that had a monthly/quarterly bonus). I read a review that talks about lining shareholder pockets. that is 100% true. I was amazed to see as many positive reviews from anyone working in product marketing as they are always the first to be laid off. a couple of the site directors are absolute idiots (looking at you hiromura and conforti). I was promoted from being a sales rep to Business Devlopment and was told by a manager "when you fail, you can apply to come back to my team". That is Connection in a nutshell. just read some of these pre written marketing responses that the marketing team puts on here. if they truly cared what employees thought, they would give a real human response and not some pre-written press release garbage. I also read a few reviews about the culture and how it is all about making the right friends. That is true for most corporate environments but it is extremely prevalent at Connection. There is a definitely a "boys club". there are hardly any minorities and very few women in leadership roles. Managers are actively encouraged to get their reps to never apply for promotions and to keep them as sales reps. Ambition (outside of phone dialing) is never rewarded or encouraged you are given 5 sick days a year but you better not use them within a rolling 12month period. you will be spoken to or potentially fired there is a pretty aggressive non-compete which they have put in place. makes sense to keep sales reps from moving with customers, but if you wanted to ever advance your career, Connection will do everything in their power to prevent it all while grossly underpaying you. for what it is worth, I left the company on good terms and was not fired.

Pros

The vacation time is hard to beat. It pays the bills, barely.

Cons

Management picks favorites, positions are created for said people (with raises I’m sure). I could name favorites in almost all departments. We are supposed to be adults in the adult world. Why is this allowed to continue?? The ‘in’ crowd should have ended in high school.

Connection Response

Connection values and respects its employees as individuals and for their contributions. Not only does favoritism not have a seat in the selection process, it’s not conducive to stimulating a productive work environment. Our employees are encouraged to make meaningful contributions for the betterment of their departments, Connection as a whole and their respective communities. This presents an opportunity to provide more visibility to our diversity and inclusion practices as an organization. As an employee, you are encouraged to subscribe to BuzzHive, an internal social media platform, to view initiatives and/ or post comments. In some instances, Connection utilizes subject matter experts (SMEs) as a component of the interview and selection process. In addition to assessing an applicant’s aptitude for the task at hand, SMEs possess intrinsic knowledge about the job responsibilities and can accurately relay those responsibilities along with the expectations of the role. With over a decade of service to Connection at the TIDC, you are eligible for five weeks of vacation annually. Our compensation team makes a concerted effort to ensure that our total compensation package is competitive in the markets where we conduct business. Given your noted compensation concerns, you are encouraged to engage your manager and/ or human resources manager. Managers are empowered to educate employees on opportunities for job enrichment and advancement which may provide you with an opportunity to advance your earning potential. Thank you for your service to Connection.
