Literally everything else.
The pay is terrible.
$12 an hour for reps, $15 per hour for assistant manager which is just a rep with manager codes who does a little extra paperwork.
At my time of leaving I was #1 in my district and my commission for the month was trending $700.
They pay based on commission buckets.
Separating voice from business from smartphones and watches.
If any of those metrics are not at 80% you don’t get commission on that bucket.
Then if you’re in the 4th or 5th quintile which is all relative to other stores, they take a further 10 or 20% off the top of your entire commission.
There was a month where one of my reps didn’t clock out properly and needed time adjustments or didn’t take his lunch enough times (3 or 4 in a month) so they just refused to pay his commission.
Keep in mind the company gets paid no less for each activation you produce. Even at the 125% to goal payout, it’s $19 per voice activation on a top tier plan. Which is less than 1/3rd of corporate owned retail payout. Also keep in mind, you will almost guaranteed never hit that.
The commission is also based on STORE performance, so if your coworkers aren’t feeling it that month, you WILL have your commission be lowered.
I don’t know how this is even legal. The company needs a lawsuit. They don’t get paid less from tmobile based on their stores not hitting a certain number. When I brought this up to my district manager he said “nothing I say is going to make your commission check higher” and I was scoffed at when I suggested he gave my feedback to higher ups.
Do yourself a giant favor and don’t even waste your time coming to work for this joke of a company. You can do the EXACT same job and get paid MUCH better at any other retailer. EVERY one of my reps was making the company over $10k in gross profit on a consistent basis and getting paid less than $800 in commission on the BEST months. The real average was 3-500 a month.
