Pros

Union employer = higher wages for non-union employees also. Great vacation time, plus can purchase a week additional. Choice of several insurance options.

Cons

Union = nothing is easy a lot of the time. Small, if any, bonus 1x per year. Yearly raises are not really based on your performance, more on what the industry standard wage is. Does not give a lot of incentive to go over-and-above.

Pros

Everyone needs electricity and natural gas.

Cons

When the CEO makes over $140,000 a week in 2011 and Sr. VP's get a $225,00 bonus and don't give anyone else below Executive level their bonus's what does that tell you? This company now is no better than Exon or a Wall St. company who have what they think are an elite class at the top who take care of themselves and toss just enough to the masses to keep them somewhat satisfied.

Pros

A stable place to work, although you may have to adjust your moral principals unless you are willing to suffer the consequences of staying true to your (outside real world) values and beliefs.

Cons

Questionable business practices, employees truly believe they have a “Divine Right” to remain employed at Consumers Energy for at least 20 to 30 years or more despite performance, poor management, incompetent management, (circle the wagon mentality) is often the first line of defense when looking into any process/project gone wrong (if) anyone knows it has gone wrong, bullying management included, major workplace favoritism, no incentive to excel.
