Pros

The health benefits were pretty decent, the commission was good when management wasn't attempting to claim it for themselves, Summer fundays (3-4 half days during the summer, paid) Vacation sets in quicker than other companies I've worked for, sales standards are not strict, lots of friendly competition to achieve sales goals

Cons

Unwillingness to keep parts on hand for maintenance resulting in delayed resolution of problems, higher level management is blind to the day to day of what goes on at the complex, high turnover rate, on a personal note, dealing with people everyday in regards to their housing they are rude and inconsiderate, long delay in receiving new office technology when it is desperately needed.

Thanks so much for the feedback! With a portfolio of nearly 20 apartment communities located throughout the United States, it is very challenging for senior management to be aware of everything that takes place day-to-day at each community. However, I would urge this reviewer to take advantage of the various communication avenues available. Each community has a Property Manager who is charged with addressing issues to meet the needs of our residents. Senior property management staff visits each community very frequently offering another opportunity for employees to express their opinions. Finally, Continental’s owner and President visit each community at least once a year providing yet another opportunity to be heard.

Pros

Career paths are open at Continental, meaning that if you have drive & politics behind you, you can do anything you'd like. The majority of senior personnel are not in their original departments or even have degrees in what they're providing leadership for. Construction & Multifamily do seem to promote incredibly fast. Benefits are also strong.

Cons

You must be open to moving down different career paths, they don't like experts in any specific area. Although PTO must be earned, it is expected that you will check email and be accessible via phone during any day (which you will likely be called out on if you do not answer). They are NOT an equal opportunity employer unfortunately. There is no diversity or want for diversity among management. They are not on the forefront of technology, a lot of equipment is outdated which makes some positions harder. It is NOT a team environment. It's all-for-one and this attitude is encouraged. Although degrees are looked at highly, experience is not. Do not believe that you will be able to take courses & educate yourself further in the department, although it's stated in the handbook that it's allowed, it really is not preferred.
