Pros

Great product - and even if you're not in the most creative role, you get to work with the photogaphy and do some creative stuff. For a while it has had a relaxed atmosphere and a young team and and has been pretty supportive in HR terms, eg time off if you got ill. And it is beginning to look like they've got the vision and energy to turn the company round. It could be a really exciting place in the next few years.

Cons

Bureaucracy everywhere. Want to get something done? You'll have to write at least 100 emails and copy in 5000 people. You can be s*** hot at what you do and management will be too busy filling out forms and pulling the ladder up behind them to notice it. For years this has stopped Corbis getting anywhere, but the way Gary Shenk and his new management team are talking, that might turn round.

Pros

It's a very interesting industry, with a lot of opportunity. Though constant change is sometimes difficult, it's also exciting; I like the fact that the company tries to be nimble and recognize opportunity.

Cons

The company operates as if it were a large company when it is not--the bureaucracy is over the top, there's no accountability or responsibility, and lately the communication has gotten pretty bad.

Pros

They pay well because it is such a high risk company, Corbis tends to hire well, but cannot keep good folks. Corbis on average has 40% turnover!

Cons

Corbis does at least 2-3 layoffs a year, so be prepared for a short term gig. Gary Shenk cannot make a decision without the help of the Boston Consulting Group. Corbis has spent millions on consultants, then cannot make its numbers, so then does mass layoffs to make up the difference.
