Hello, Cortlandian! This is a hard review to read, and we want to make your experience better. While we do have high standards and yes, hitting our metrics is important, we also place extreme value on our associates’ well-being and work-life balance. If you feel like your current position is not offering you what you need, we encourage you to talk to your manager or reach out to me directly, trey.lopez@cortland.com. Remember that we offer a significant amount of training and support for all associates to succeed in their role. Also, please keep in mind that we take our open-door communication policy seriously – so we urge you to bring up your pain points to your manager so that we can address them. #HaveTheCourageToBeBetter -Trey Lopez, Director of Operations

Pros

The Company is customer focused.

Cons

The rank and file is treated as second class citizens. The people on the front lines receive mixed and contradictory messages from the Corporate Team. Depending on the region that you work in, there isn't a lot of upward mobility opportunities unless you are willing to relocate. At times, the company is too customer focused, to the detriment of the employees. Many in management like to micro manage.

Hey there. You’re right – we’re very focused on our residents, but we go further than that. While we are a real estate company, we’re also in the people business, and this applies to all of our people: residents, investors, and associates. Over the past few years, we’ve experienced intense growth, and we’ll admit that’s come with a few growing pains, but we’re aware of these opportunities to improve and are actively working to better ourselves. To that end, we’ve implemented more streamlined ways to communicate among teams and the company as a whole, and we’re revamping our Leader’s Boot Camp. We place a great deal of importance on the resident experience, and we place the same amount of importance on the associate experience – especially since we know the two are linked. Please remember that we value and practice an open-door policy when it comes to communication: you should always feel comfortable bringing your thoughts and concerns to your manager or Talent Resources. We cannot improve your experience if we don’t hear your feedback. #ListenWithYourHeartAndYourMind -Ashley Gordon, VP Talent Acquisition

Hello, Cortlandian! We love hearing that your associate experience has been so fulfilling. While we know our growth can be a little overwhelming, our fast pace is what allows us to be leaders in the multifamily industry – but we couldn’t do it without passionate, hard-working associates like you! #LoveWhatYouDoAndLetItShow -Ashley Gordon, VP Talent Acquisition
