Pros

The CEO is truly amazing. Each co-worker is extremely genuine and hardworking. The management staff in FL, I seriously couldn't ask for a better team.

Cons

I honestly don't have any.

Great Place to Work

Pros

• Dynamic workplace with committed employees. • Thorough screening process, helping to select very qualified candidates. • Very quick to address deficiencies and willing to hire 3rd party resources to assist. • Very creative and pushes the envelope for resident and employee experiences. • The People. This is the most important aspect when working in a demanding and time consuming job. The employees and owners at Cortland make it worth it.

Cons

• In comparison, Cortland is a young and growing company. That creates organizational and process “growing pains”, although they are addressed relatively quickly. • Communication and directions among different departments isn’t always very strong or parallel.

We couldn’t agree more – what makes our jobs worth it is by far and away the people! We have the best associates around, and we appreciate you recognizing just how committed, creative, and qualified the Cortland family is. With our constant goal of reaching new heights, we do admit that sometimes it’s hard to keep everyone in the loop and get all of our associates caught up on new processes and new endeavors. We promise to keep strengthening our communication as we continue to grow. Thanks for all your support!

Great Ideas but random execution

Pros

Cortland is truly customer and associate focused. The training is great and the corporate support/company culture is only minimally stuffy! Opportunities for advancement and the rate of advancement blow any multifamily company out of the water!

Cons

Cortland is truly customer focused but sometimes comes at the cost of site/operations. They believe in catering to the customer but some of the company comes from other industries that I feel randomly suggest ideas that get implemented. While this is great, I do feel the weight of corporate controls things that the sites might not want to do. I.E. work until 7 or wear cheap uniforms that were newly implemented. The SOP is highly overbearing and dated.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! We’ve been working hard to set a new standard in multifamily – one where we truly care about our customers and our associates. And it feels great knowing when our efforts are paying off! It is true that we bring in a lot of outside knowledge to help us gain new perspectives on the work we deliver. We’ll certainly take your suggestions to heart and see what we can do to better align our corporate initiatives with our communities’ needs. We hear you loud and clear on the SOPs, too! Thanks again for all of your feedback.
