      Interesting projects but overworked and underpaid

      Pros

      Interesting and varied project work, talented colleagues, friendly atmosphere, good experience for new starters.

      Cons

      Rewards are very poor, long working hours and a pressured environment despite the company recruiting on the premise that it's employees have a 'good work-life balance'.

As you are a current employee you will be aware that we asked more in depth feedback on reward and how we can increase satisfaction with it during the employee survey earlier this year, and we have since been conducting a review of how this feedback can be addressed. We’ve recently communicated the outcomes of this internally. You’ll also know that we have introduced various initiatives to support everyone to improve their work-life balance over the past months; we hope you’re looking forward to the early finish this Friday. If you have any more suggestions, please do discuss with your manager or another member of the SMT. The pros you’ve listed are often repeated by our colleagues and we are pleased that you also enjoy the friendly environment which defines our offices.

      Small team, nice office, regular training sessions, health and travel insurance, high quality work

      Cons

      Extremely high workload and long hours, lack of interaction with colleagues, lack of career prospects, unclear decision making process unless you are in the senior management team, too many formal e-mails are being sent around everyday, micro-management, unclear instructions from project managers

You’ve identified several areas you think that the company could improve and we would encourage you to discuss these internally to provide more detailed suggestions, so that we can plan initiatives to make improvements in these areas. Great care is given to the commitments we make on project delivery to ensure that the work expectations aren’t too high. If you feel that this has not worked for the projects you are on, we would urge you to discuss with your manager. Please do also use the 360 degree feedback process to provide constructive feedback on individual project managers so that they can learn how to improve on the instructions they give.
