Pros

Health benefits, meal plan, annual raises and reviews, training and career paths

Cons

While country meadows has been voted best places to work multiple times, much of that on the Allentown campus is influenced by executive directors telling staff that the "anonymous" 3rd party surveys must be completed with positive reviews. Nursing staff are not valued and are underpaid. The work load is similar to skilled nursing, with double the paperwork. The Allentown campus is consistently understaffed, and staff are placed in unsafe situations on a regular basis. Staff turnover is incredi ly high, but this is hidden from home office simply by neglecting to post all open positions on retention reports. Medication errors are not reported properly, or at all many times. Management staff are trained immediately that they are not permitted to contact the home office with any concerns; not ever. This is drilled into management regularly. Issues are handled "in house" only and unfortunately the core values of the company are not reflected on the Allentown campus.

Thank you for sharing your perspective, though it is inconsistent with what we learn from families and residents and even co-workers. The home office team, including the Leader family, is very involved at each of our campuses with regular in-person visits and one-on-one time with departments and individuals. We invite you to contact our corporate team directly at Corporate@CountryMeadows.com if you have specific experiences to share. We hope you are doing well in your new endeavors.

Overworked and underpaid

Pros

Residents become family, great benefits for full-time employees, pet friendly, always hours to pick up and paid trainings.

Cons

We are overworked and underpaid. As a PCA we end up taking on jobs that housekeeping and hospice should be doing. There are always new employees that need training just to be fired a week or two later, which is understandable being that we want the best care for our residents. I just think they should have someone lined up & ready to fill that position. Majority of the residents have some form of Dementia. Some can be very combative and physically abusive towards staff & other residents. Reports are made and nothing is done about it until someone higher than a PCA is abused. Supervisors don't take advice from the PCAs when we are the people working with the residents and would have a better understanding of what would work best for them and us.

Thank you for recognizing our family-oriented culture both with our residents and co-workers. We're sorry to hear you express an impression that PCAs are not valued or appreciated. As one of our largest group of co-workers, we absolutely value their contributions and all their efforts. They engage with our residents all day long, every day. They know our residents' likes, preferences and needs. They share a direct connection and have the opportunity to help make life better for them. All of which is critical and important to delivering quality customer service. We understand that and are grateful for those connections and that service. And we also respect their dedication is hard work. We in turn work hard to evaluate our compensation and benefits to ensure they remain competitive to other companies in our industry and make real-time adjustments when needed. We trust our PCAs' perspective and reporting as they have firsthand knowledge of residents' behaviors and needs. That said, your perspective is surprising and one in which we would like to learn more. We invite you to contact our corporate team at Corporate@CountryMeadows.com. Thank you for all you do for our residents and fellow co-workers.

Pros

Residents are nice, learning experiences, co-workers work very hard at what they do. Benefits aren't that bad.

Cons

Lack of appreciation, Hostile management, Favoritism. When going to management about issues you just get brushed aside as if nothing happened. Work load is not distributed evenly making some shifts/people work harder than they should.

You are right: working with our residents is the best part of this job. And we thank you for your time spent caring for our customers. Country Meadows works hard to create a positive environment for co-workers as well as the residents we serve. We have numerous ways for co-workers to report concerns such as reporting them directly to their supervisor, and if that doesn't provide results, to the executive director, vice president and even our CEO. We also have a co-worker hotline for people to share concerns anonymously. We really do want to hear about any issues because we honestly believe that every company makes mistakes, and what makes Country Meadows one of the best places to work, is what we do about those mistakes or concerns.
