Pros

Interesting work, friendly colleagues across institutions

Cons

The favoritism runs rampant here. Colleagues who are favorites of upper management, and for no other reason, are promoted into positions of power and abuse that power once received. Bullies who are favorites keep their positions and those that get bullied end up leaving because they are not the favorites-- I saw this happen with 4 employees in 2 departments. The company does not care about the well-being of its employees aside from the chosen favorites. This is apparent by the way that the company rolled-out RTO, cancelled summer Fridays and mental health day, and "reorganizes" so regularly that you never know when a colleague or group you work with will still even be at the company the next week, which makes employees very nervous (unless they are the favorites).

Culture is no longer valued there

Pros

Some nice people, though many have been forced out.

Cons

They have completely divorced themselves from the positive, pro employee culture of the past. Once they headed down this path, they simple stopped doing colleague engagement surveys so they wouldn't have to hear how poorly they were treating their employees. Instead of relying on people who have performed well and incentivizing them for their progress, they continually insist on bringing in new execs with no experience to institute "change." This is both upsetting and baffling to those whose hard work has made them profitable over the years. They have replaced a culture of care with a culture of fear and mistrust.

Pros

Good benefits package, supportive peers, access to learning resources, flexible time off, mission-driven work.

Cons

Low pay relative to market standards. The return-to-office (RTO) policy is rigid and proximity-based, not based on team function or collaboration needs. Employees are required to report to offices where they have no teammates, no collaboration, and no leadership presence. This undermines morale and productivity. Leadership continues to deflect when asked about the rationale or future of the RTO policy, which has quietly escalated from 3 days to 4—and many suspect it will become 5.
