Out of touch leadership, misguided RTO policy

Pros

FTO policy, solid 401K benefits, great colleagues

Cons

This place has changed rapidly under the new CEO and leadership team. Leadership is misguided and out of touch. The company re-organized a couple of years ago and has been a place of instability ever since. Be prepared to answer to external consultants in multiple useless meetings a week. A top-heavy organization without a lot of middle management and "doers". Leadership is out of touch with the needs of the organization. The organization's mission used to be student-focused. Most days now feels like we're reporting directly to the demands of shareholders. Many making decisions have no expertise in the market vertical, and there's plenty of turnover, so be prepared to onboard new management regularly. New RTO policy and how it was implemented is inflexible and out of touch with how other factors such as the pandemic, re-organization, and team structures have changed the workplace environment for many in the company. Mandatory Tues-Thurs in-office policy for any colleague within 50 miles of one of their offices. Yet, majority of the company is still remote (including 1/2 of the leadership) and they continue to hire remote employees. So, many go into the office to sit on the same Teams meetings as they did at home. Leadership has mistaken in-office attendance as collaboration and missed that while we were all remote we created new ways to collaborate and build a vibrant team culture. Issues with child care and can only do 2 days in the office? You're team in another office or remote? Sorry, you're out of luck. There is no leniency and HR and leadership will not work with you. The c-suite monitors scanned badges weekly. And there are no real guidelines, so each supervisor manages the policy differently.

Pros

-Opportunity to connect with amazing colleagues -Supportive and engaging learning culture -Smooth workflow once cross-trained on multiple programs -No phone-based work required

Cons

The announcement about returning to the office (RTO) was poorly handled by HR and comes across as a strategy for a soft layoff. Unfortunately, this decision will likely result in the loss of many talented and dedicated employees. Management disregarded feedback, even though employees outside the RTO zone have proven they can remain highly effective while working remotely. Initially, when I was first joined the company, this felt like a place that genuinely cared about its employees and fostered a positive workplace culture. However, with so many recent changes—none of them for the better—it’s hard to feel the same way about the organization over the past six months.

Pros

One of the key benefits this company previously offered was the ability to work remotely. However, this is no longer the case. The majority of employees have now been required to return to the office (4-days). If remote work is important to you, be sure to ask your recruiter specifically how many days are expected on-site, as current job descriptions and advertisements do not reflect this change.

Cons

This company places a higher value on office politics than actual performance. Hardworking, capable employees are often overlooked for advancement, while less competent individuals are promoted. Despite doing the right thing, recognition and fair compensation are rare. The organization has undergone multiple restructures and layoffs—often letting go of high-performing employees, even in 2025, while still touting its success. HR and Talent Acquisition are not supportive resources for employees; many in HR appear disengaged or unwilling to help. It’s important to remember they are here to protect the company—not advocate for you. The Talent Acquisition department, in particular, is in serious need of a complete overhaul. Management seems disconnected from employee expectations, particularly around workload and compensation. If you’re comfortable working below market rate, being micromanaged, and having little job security, this might be the place for you. Various departments lack accountability and integrity, leading to a frustrating work environment. Employees are often delegated tasks outside their scope or unrelated to their roles, with little regard for workload or job alignment. FYI, no career advancement.
