Pros

They're hiring during any entertainment industry strike. It's legit so easy to get a job here. If you've worked service or any other abusive job, this is definitely a lot less strenuous.

Cons

Thinking of accepting that hot new job offer from Crazy Maple? Think again. Prepare to have zero introduction to how this job works. You'll have less than 3 days of training, and in no time you'll be pumping out low quality content like everyone else. If you're a remote or hybrid worker, prepare to not be compensated for your personal equipment or internet. If you're an in office worker, prepare to share 2-4 bathroom stalls with 70 other people (I'm not even exaggerating—two are gender neutral and two are gender-specific, and the office expected engagement is 70-85). And it's clogged half the time. If you don't have a $1200 laptop, prepare to have either no access to the computers at work, or have half a computer setup (either the PC OR the monitor. Never both). If you're a quality checker or a native English speaker, prepare to be told that the way you edit and revise English is wrong, and prepare to implement totally unnatural language rules by those who can't even speak it fluently. Overtime and holidays are exceedingly difficult to get approved. Oh, and there's no PTO. So everyone's working Christmas Eve and the day before Thanksgiving. Unless this is your first job out of college, don't take it. NOBODY STAYS HERE FOR MORE THAN 6 MONTHS. The only people that will be on your side are probably your direct supervisor. Otherwise HR, Legal, your team lead all do not care if you stay or not. They can always get a cheaper, less experienced person, and train them in even less time than they trained you.

Pros

Fun and friendly immediate supervisors. Some of the material has potential, but…

Cons

It’s a churn and burn content farm. The amount of material writers are expected to crank out in a week is insane. Luckily there’s no quality control, and work is released to the public full of plot holes, wonky phrasing, and a slew of grammatical errors. There’s very little originality as most of the scripts are just trying to crib off whatever is popular at the moment. If you are hired as a writer, don’t bother trying to do good work or offer any insight. They don’t care. Just crank it out because if you don’t, you’ll be gone before you can blink. They also pay hourly, and if you cannot produce in the time allowed, you’d better lie on your time card and take it on the chin for the unpaid time. Otherwise, you’ll get the boot.

Stagnant Growth and Exploitation of Employees

Pros

The pay is better than most of the other competitors in the bay, BUT that isn't saying much because all of these interactive story companies are underpaying their employees. Benefits are okay. Can work remotely.

Cons

Poor leadership and lack of a clear vision has really bogged down this company in recent years. The CEO likes to be "hands-on" but doesn't have the attention span to see a project through properly, leaving behind hours of time and energy wasted. A majority of the experienced employees have left and the company exploits new college grads by making them work multiple roles for low pay. Most of management has no leadership experience and have a history of treating employees poorly. Do not expect any support from HR; I have never met an HR this inept at their job. They haven't protected the company from lawsuits and are basically a glorified snack shopper. HR has clearly never read labor laws and has leaked employee personal information on more than one account. Even if you're desperate, avoid this company. You will risk your mental and physical wellbeing. They did not follow COVID regulations during the height of the pandemic and remote work has given management the idea that they are allowed to contact you 24/7 with no regards to personal boundaries.
