To be or not to be, a Great Place to Work

Pros

CEO is a down to earth, relatable guy. He tries to connect with team members which may be unique in the corporate world for people with similar roles as his. Benefits. HR appears to try their best at re-evaluating benefits on an annual basis to make sure they are doing what they can to stay somewhat competitive. Only saying this because jobs in the org can be draining, but you can borrow against unearned PTO. Lord knows, you'll need more breaks than you think. Change. Every great and evolving org needs change. It is required to be better than you were yesterday. This is a testament to the CEO and his desire to be better as an org. and stay competitive in our industry. EX: becoming more dealer focused and customer focused. Flexible schedule. Not really micromanaged in this area which is amazing for work life balance.

Cons

Leadership does not follow PRIDE yet team members are held to a very high standard around this. (PRIDE is our acronym for: Positive, Respectful, Insightful, Direct, Earnest). When you see unprofessionalism, lack of respect and insightfulness from leadership consistently across the organization, it is very unmotivating to perform at a high level. You may often find yourself getting kicked while already down. Very few times will you be told you're doing great things. It's almost always what you're not or not doing enough of. Metrics are heavy and sometimes, unrealistic. This causes team members to "play the game" so if you're into playing this politics game of corporate life - this may be the place for you. Absolutely no room for movement (lateral and upward) for internal team members. Zero opportunities to explore anything new. Almost every post on the career site requires a PhD in the field they're posting about. Forget the company placing you in roles based off strengths alone, it requires firm experience and many years of it, typically. Culture. You will hear and see (literally banners on LinkedIn) about CAC being a Great Place to Work. This is masked by gifts and tchotchke's - if you're a team member that values stuff, this also may be the place for you. But please don't expect being a Great Place to Work employer to come in any other form than marketing gifts that at the end of the day only help company with their brand. This goes back to leadership and different standards people are held to. Make mistakes, "fail fast" they say. But not really because we will use that against you later. Regardless of awareness and lessons learned when mistake was made. Some leaders think team members/MAMs have too much PTO. I will leave that right there. LOL

Pros

Good benefits, Nice perk items, Good amount of PTO granted to you. The company offers a lot of great things as a whole including remote work.

Cons

The most toxic environment I have ever worked for in my 30 years of working. So many things that are not ok, including a boss with an ego problem that is allowed to speak with people like they are beneath him and berate people like they are trash. HR takes it as an opportunity to mediate not remedy the problem. People don't know who to turn to because there is literally no one to help with the way the department is ran and who is running it so instead they just sit miserable, in fear of losing their jobs. I recently had to get on anti-anxiety meds due to my workplace stress because of panic attacks. The company provides a survey that is "optional" but if your employees do not complete it, you are held accountable and are berated for it. BTW the survey is for the Great Place to Work so if the score is not what the company feels is "acceptable" we will need to figure out how to "fix" the problems ASAP. That includes empty promises and a bunch of talk. Senior leaders asking the management team why the turnaround is so high. Instead of listening, they place blame and state we should be doing a better job. The IT department puts together a new WFH package for employees and there are still massive issues. You will be blamed for that too. They preach a work/life balance but if something fails while you are away, that's your fault. And although it is not "expected" you will be available 24/7 to your staff and anyone that needs your assistance. The pay and bonus structure is great but not worth your health. Oh and your bonus will go out the window if the boss feels like you aren't meeting 'his" expectation. No matter how well your team does with their metrics.

Don’t believe the hype

Pros

Great benefits flexible schedule meet new people

Cons

100k base salary sounds great until the micromanaging starts. And it will start. High employee turnover. HR said is was 48%. That doesn’t sound like a great place to work. They refresh the job openings to look like they are recent. Some markets have been open for months. Some places were open for almost a year. Firing long-time employees and hiring people that don’t know any better than to just deal with terrible management practices of harassment. Several of us long-time employees are just waiting for the right opportunity to get out. And new MAM’s too. It starts to wear on you that this company is ultimately, by definition, a predatory lender and you are making money by screwing people over. There are other jobs out there. The people who have given this place 5-stars are incentivized by HR. Of course someone from recruitment is going to say this place is the best place they have ever worked! It’s their job to sucker in more unsuspecting victims. They hire managers that have no business managing anyone, let alone anything. Don’t believe the hype. I made a lot of money for this company. It DID change my life. I became greedy. Life isn’t all about money and working. You give up a piece of morality and decency when you sign with this company. It’s no longer the same as it was.
