Pros

I get a GREAT end of year bonus, and 2 extra weeks a year off usually for the 4th of July and Christmas.

Cons

The top out pay for maintenance has only risen less than a dollar in 5 years. The maintenance management has been promoted from within and struggle. Technicians with broader skills and styles are leaving because of the incompatibility with the management and no chance of promotion. Look at some of the GREAT leaders that have stepped down. NO DEPARTMENT SENIORITY. How can you bring someone from production with ZERO maintenance experience through an apprenticeship and then in 3 years give them access to 1st shift while you have higher skilled workers with 15 plus years in maintenance forced to stay on 2nd or 3rd. Rules prevent SHIFT TO SHIFT in a transfer to another area unless you have been at the same job post for 10 years. So you quit instead of finding happiness in another building possibly. Why would any company want to prevent an employee from moving to the same shift if it is an off-shift anyway?

Pros

Job Stability Recent organizational structure changes have improved decision making and direction. Some of the benefits are strong (401k match, medical and dental insurance).

Cons

There is an obvious push to force review scores into a bell curve. Basically, a '5' or exceptional review is unattainable. A '4' appears to be close to impossible as well. Everyone is shoved into a '3', regardless of actual results in our goals or how we compare to peers. Its as if you don't want people to do well. The comments in my feedback do not line up with the score given, which tells me that the numbers are meaningless. I actually feel bad for my leadership, because i can tell it isnt their choice. Please stop wasting my time doing that every year. If we all get the same, lets just stop wasting time doing all of it so that i can check a box for you. It has less than zero value to me now. Every review cycle is just an annual crush to my morale. The major gap in benefits is for mental health care. It is treated like a luxury. The EAP is useless for anything chronic. The company claims to care, but your actions speak volumes. Treat mental healthcare like healthcare, and make it part of our insurance plan, or just admit you don't think it is important. I tried to use it. It was useless, a complete waste of time. Bonus has also become quite anemic for us 'average' folks.

Pros

No to very little travel. Majority of coworkers are fun and good to work with. Basically impossible to get fired.

Cons

Don't expect a pay raise that matches inflation (<2%) or a large bonus bonus (~1%-1.5%), especially during profit breaking years. Which leads to changing companies within 2 years to acquire better compensation. Don't expect to achieve a promotion unless your going to spent the majority of your career there ( 5-10 years for the fist promotion) Expect 50 to 60+ hours per week with no extra compensation. Management and HR will not take action to address inappropriate managerial conduct, and practice the method of laterally moving to a different department or promoting out inappropriate or inept managers or higher personnel. Typical international foreign owned conglomerate.
