Pros

Relaxed management style, flex hours with this position, a lot of PTO

Cons

Ill-defined job description, low salary, little development from management and few opportunities for growth, often feel like I'm expected by management to be more like a landlord or parent than a counselor, inconsistent treatment of clients by staff due to inconsistent expectations set by lack of training (some fellow staff can be rude), even housed clients live in pretty dismal environments, you're exposed to bedbugs (I've brought one home from work).

Residential Councillor

Pros

Working with residents was difficult but very rewarding. If you're good at it, you can really make a significant difference in their lives.

Cons

Treated as though youre expendable. Managment is more interested in convenience for the agency than protecting staff and residents alike. Poor pay.
