Pros

When preparing for my interview I came to this site, and searched some about employee experience on the internet and saw it listed as one of the worst places to work. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and have thoroughly enjoyed my management, my office, my peers, and my work. Several years ago there was a reputation of the corporate side being run like the military. My experience in the past few months has reflected a much more laid back atmosphere with schedule flexibility, project flexibility, and fun co workers. On a larger scale, it seems like the DISH products seem to be improving. It seems like DISH has a head start on the future with the ownership of all its wireless spectrum. It's an exciting time to start with the company.

Cons

I'm underpaid relative to my education (though I've heard that with tenure within company DISH tends to pay better than competition). Benefits are meh. Healthcare is comparable to Obamacare. 50% match on 401(k) up to $5,000 ($2,500 match) isn't great, nor is the 5 year vesting period for it. Employee Stock Purchase Program is nice if there's wiggle room in your budget for it, but that might be a year 2 or 3 type of thing for young people. There has been a high level of recent attrition, which may lead to disorganization, although it seems the company has turned the corner (on the corporate side) in terms of employee experience.

Pros

The only thing good about this are some of the people who really care about their customers. Too bad the good customer service people are thrown out regularly.

Cons

Unless you are on the phones, you will never advance in your career goals. If you are behind the scenes in QA, IT or in Operations you will never advance. Management expects immediate results without the proper tools to support immediate expectation of results. Management is constantly looking for a quick fix to a problem and continuously ignores the underlying issues that would make a difference to the overall goals of the company, resulting in movement upwards for J.D. Power and ACSI. Instead they concentrate on outlier issues that would make no measurable difference in overall customer service and micromanage the outlier points. Any plans that do make a difference to overall company results, they either quash or take credit for design without acknowledging the actual contributor of the action plan. Often this is because they do not understand the mathematics behind how the plan is designed, nor the proper way to execute and apply the action plan without it being broken down into the equivalent of "See Spot run".

Pros

-My managers have all been easy to work with, available, appreciative and supportive. -The benefits have been great, I was allowed to keep an already planned trip two months after I was hired and I have been allowed any additional time needed. Profit sharing was a wonderful surprise. They also give employees free DISH service. -I received a promotion and just started in April of 2013. -I have been given opportunities to grow my knowledge in many areas including: Siebel, Oracle, Adobe, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and various other systems. -I have gained knowledge in IT language/interactions for projects/troubleshooting and I just started learning SQL queries.

Cons

-Like at any company (or interaction you have with other people) there will be drama. There was drama dating back before my time. That made learning a little harder because in addition to work you have to learn the dynamics between certain departments, to understand why you may be getting unnecessary push back.
