As long as you are doing well, don’t rock the boat too much and are liked, there’s no issues. If you do something that bothers leadership, you’ll be quickly on a path to be pushed out. I saw it happen to many people who were hard workers but also those who they hired poorly. I was a person who got pushed out when I no longer met the ever changing standards. I had a great relationship with one of the executives my whole time there, until the last month. It was a horrible process and I don’t wish it upon anyone.
From the day I started until the day I left, it was chaos. The marketing and executive leadership was constantly changing, leaving teams confused and without direction. New leaders came in, changed the plans and technology stack then would get fired or left. It really felt like a revolving door of people coming and going. It left most of the team feeling a lack of confidence in the hiring process and overall direction for the teams.
They promote a culture of openness and letting SMEs do their job since they know best but that’s not the case. Leadership stifles the creativity of the technical workers who actually do the day to day job.
I tolerated a lot of drama and unnecessary stress in my life for a year and a half, I told myself I could stomach it because of the high salary and extra time off. But no company is worth the toll it puts on your body and relationships. I’m happier for being gone.
