Pros
High level of respect for my colleagues, close team relationships, good communication within teams Good response to employee surveys by management Good internal training resources Good IT support and hardware Good group autonomy: groups are free to structure themselves and operate as they see fit within the bounds of the larger organization DMS is a good structure for quality control and needs more auto-prompts, like sending a reminder to schedule a kickoff or lessons learned meeting before and after projects start/end. The Oakland office is in a good location with access to public transportation, good restaurants, outdoor areas, and residential areas
Cons
High turn over made it difficult for me to maintain a manageable work load: five times I was told I would be taking other peoples’ projects after they left. This happened 3 times in one year resulting in me managing 19 projects for the following year and a half. Hiring new employees after old employees left was not standard practice, making workloads overwhelming. low salary, limited growth opportunities Project managers have limited information about the economic performance of their projects while they are in progress, which made it difficult to manage them. Good initiatives are started but only seem to last for a few years before they peter out.
