      Pros

      All employees seem invested in how my transition is going and my workplace happiness, and are willing to help fill availability if I do not have a task. Coworkers respond well to my questions, and go above and beyond in creating learning experiences that help me come to the solution, rather than simply providing the answer for me. Employees in all practice areas synergize, creating a fun variety of projects.

      Cons

      Challenges with staying busy while being a new employee, especially when you are not in a position to find your own work (however this is understood as a new hire). Some supervisors may not seem prepared to train new staff, as there is a knowledge gap that comes with working in this realm for an extended time.

      Thanks for your service to the company. The accounting function is an important position at DOWL and in any engineering firm, and we attempt to compensate our folks at a level that recognizes this contribution. The tempo of our business in accounting and other support areas does tend to be high at times, and may not be comfortable for everyone.

We aspire to be the biggest small company in the Western U.S. Regarding flexibility, it is our desire to change and evolve with social pressures and demographics and culture, while at the same time always being there for our clients and our teammates. Our People Department tries to stay on top of emerging trends in the workplace, and make recommendations that strengthen the company and enhance our ability to serve our clients.
