Pros

There is good paid vacation time with a week off for holidays throughout the year as well as a week off at both Spring Break and Christmas.

Cons

The college is currently going through a restructuring process which is causing a lot of problems for students, faculty, and staff. There is a huge shortage in people to assist students since many qualified individuals have been laid off during this restructuring process and staffing open positions has been a very slow process. There is not a sufficient level of transparency for those who work at the college which has created an atmosphere of uncertainty and frustration.

Pros

Part-time + full time I've worked here over 20 years, and most of those years were good. We had a very family-like environment, but that changed about 7 or 8 years ago. There are many good people still here that I love, but they'll all probably be gone soon as well.

Cons

People are leaving here in droves. Management is awful. It is very clear that the people now in charge don't care about their employees at all. A LOT of age and racial discrimination. They're getting rid of anyone who has been here long enough to be good at their job and hiring people who look "right" but don't have a clue. Low pay. More and more work load. No concern for how decisions will effect workers. Cold, and very impersonal orders coming down from above - no information about why, or what to expect in the future. No security at all.

Pros

Uff, right now. I've got none. The campuses are really nice? I do enjoy the architecture?

Cons

In the past, you could work at a specific campus, be part of a team of instructors with whom you would collaborate . Scheduling was done by a Lead/Coordinator at each campus and it was a relatively smooth process. Now, one or two people do the scheduling for the entire district. They will schedule you for wherever they see fit, regardless of what or where you're willing to teach. It's absolute chaos. You will be given courses a week or two ahead of the start date through random campuses that you have no familiarity with that aren't built yet. You'll be given no contact information for that campus, no resources, no nothing. You might then go through all of the trouble of setting up the course only to be told by someone at that campus that you've done it wrong and you'll need to start over - and this is after the course has already begun. Uff. Communication is abysmal. The changes made by the take over of "Dallas College" have been nothing but headaches for everyone.
