Pros

A pension if you work there for at least 10 years but it is a based on 80/20 rule.

Cons

No work from home policy. No merit based raises. What you are hired at is what you will remain at with the exception of 2-3% cost of living increases every 2 or 3 years.. No opportunity to move up in a pay band as you gain more responsibility and experience. And look to reorganization to take that pay increase away.

Pros

No best reason can be said when it’s become One College

Cons

Things seem to fall apart, loyalty loss, unsecured place to work when it become one college. Many positions are going away. You must have to apply for a new job internally if you still hope to stay. This can’t guarantee you will be re-hired. If you get hired, good luck! Who knows they are going to change again or trying to re-organize this structure again in the future. Going through all these again is really stressful. Overall, “the family” is about to collapse.

Stay away! DCCCD was a good place to work. Dallas College is not.

Pros

Faculty, staff, students, benefits. Chancellor Joe May is retiring early.

Cons

Low pay is now even lower. No work life balance. Staff are being forced to reapply for their jobs. We are then offered lower ranking positions with lower pay. This is not due to poor job performance. Not everyone is rehired. Many good hard working people have lost their jobs for no reason. The survivors are left with more work and lower pay. Meanwhile, the administration is bloated and the College is handing millions of taxpayer dollars to Boston Consulting Group.
