Pros

Watching all the good employees jump ship

Cons

There once was a sales person who thought he was so goode he should be in charge. At first he sought out industry experts but when they told him the truth, he became increasingly upset. One hot sweltering miserable sommer day, he brought in moore chiefs than poo in a horsefield. The chiefs proceeded to remove anyone who could truly help the company grow and soon all that was left was a bad smail and donkeys poorly disguised as unicorns. On a more serious note, you can't have a SaaS product based on "all the custom work we've ever done for any customer will suddenly be productized". DSI's idea of a roadmap is a wish list of all possible product features which can be moved up or down the list at anytime regardless if it fits anything. The sales people sell whatever they want regardless of whether the product can even come remotely close to performing. Advice if you are considering employment here, this is the most dysfunctional place I've ever worked in my almost 30 years of experience. The narcissism of the CEO is only capped by the narcissism of the chief customer officer. This company is an MBA case study on how to drive a company into the ground. A senior executive told me they paid someone to post fake glassdoor reviews. Although I can't verify this, I can assure you they contact people in the organization directly and pressure them to post reviews. If you don't, you'll likely be let go soon.

Pros

This section should not be required for DSI reviews.

Cons

The way this company is trying to portray itself on this public space is quite the scene. According to DSI every negative review is a downright lie and borders on libel (what? ) and every positive review is just fantastic. These 5 star reviews are very real, and are surely not faked by the same person at DSI. These fake reviews reviews have both no cons and no basis in reality. Obviously DSI is a better company than a company like Google because even those reviews have actual cons. Couldn't you have found someone that could at least make these fake reviews somewhat believable? Sarcasm aside, I worked at this company for multiple years. I sat and kept quiet while I went through immense levels of frustration, stress, and outright disbelief at some of the things this company has done. Near the end it was downright comical what this company did on a near daily basis. I wont list out all of the ridiculous things because I can't sit for 4-5 hours at a time to type them out and they are listed elsewhere. I will instead summarize a few that you should really remember when deciding if this is a place you want to work and spend a majority of your time: 1. The company has a very high turnover rate, both from firings and leavings. They are well on their way to outsourcing all important aspects of a software company besides Sales. (the CEO is a glorified account executive with no mental acumen for software) customer support, professional services, and software development are all on their way to being completely dissolved. The DSI reply to this will say that I am lying as it does on all negative reviews, so use some common sense on what is true. 2. Most clients DESPISE working with DSI. The software is not stable, nor is it user friendly in any way. There were times when we had to explain to clients that they had to use a Google Chrome Incognito browser just to login to one of our products. On top of this, the cloud hosting environments go down for hours nearly weekly (but don't worry they fired 90% of the cloud operation team as well). 3. The COVID pandemic was a tough time for many companies. Many companies experienced layoffs and tough times. DSI fired about 35% of its company in March when stay at home orders began. They did this with mass emails to people that worked their butts off for this company. They sent some of these emails to people that they didn't mean to fire. They spelled one girl's name wrong on the termination letter (you can read her review on this site). 4. After they canned many of the peasants CEO Mark Goode, being the brilliant and caring leader that he is, proceeded to hire multiple C level and VP associates to DSI. Where else would we get the money for that during a pandemic? Sorry peasants, Mark and Co. needed a couple more "leaders" to transition through these tough times. 5. The executive team then decided they should go on a retreat to the Virgin Islands MID-PANDEMIC. Again, to be fair, Mark Goode and Co. earned it with all of their hard work and endearing leadership through these tough times. For a company struggling with money, Mark sure does know how to plan a great getaway for him and his friends. Sorry about your jobs peasants, Mark needed a sweet new tan and a Bahama Mama on the beach. Enjoy your unemployment! 6. I have worked at about 4 different software companies, but I have never seen the comradery of ex-employees like ex-DSI employees. People I have never spoken to reached out to me on LinkedIn and congratulated me for getting out. That is so ridiculous it is hard not to laugh. 7. You will not get bonuses, raises, etc. no matter how hard you work and how good you are at your job. The only time they offer you a raise is when you put in your two weeks notice and the rest of your team has already quit/been fired. 8. The company is leaving obviously fake reviews to entice employees to join them. They are hurting and it is more and more obvious. Please do yourself a favor and move on. This goes for both current and potential employees. There are so many better options out there and they will treat you like a person. I know for a fact DSI will reply to this as they have on other negative reviews and tell me that I am lying, so I challenge the reader to do this: If you don't believe me or any of the other negative reviews listed here, find a previous employee on LinkedIn from any time in the last 5ish years and ask about their experiences at DSI. We are all very candid about our feelings and many of us care enough to tell you the truth of our experiences so you do not have to go through these things. Seriously, try it. I wish I would have.

Our CEO has transformed this company over the last 24 months and finding the employees that contribute and care about the organization has been his top priority. As a matter of fact, in the last 24 months more than 25 people have returned to DSI in large part because of his leadership. It is unfortunate that some people are no longer with DSI, but you can't argue with our success which throughout our 40 year history has never been better. Despite the mean- spirited way in which you characterize our team, we truly wish you the best.

Prime example of where NOT to work

Pros

The people you work with on your team. Fancy offices. Lax expense policies.

Cons

Where do I start? How about the hiring process, since that's the first impression you'll have as a candidate for employment at DSI. The process itself was fine, but HR was not allowed to provide a compensation plan with an offer letter. After I was hired, it was 2 months before I learned how my commission structure worked. The onboarding process was a joke - a single day where you learn about your benefits, learn where you sit in the office, and a tour around the downtown area. After that, there was literally zero formal training about the product. You were given access to the training modules that DSI sells to the business analysts and developers that use this product. That's not really relevant to a salesperson, as we're not going to be able to relate at the technical level of a developer. Next, the culture was terrible. Everyone in the entire company puts a wall up and is guarded as to not make leadership angry if they say the wrong thing. This company has no core values that they model their business around, nor do employees carry any confidence that what they're doing is on point with the companies goals. DSI has very high turnover (yeah, even before COVID). Many times there were 5 or 6 people gone in a given month when once of the business units wasn't making progress. This makes sense, but at the same time there's not much you can change in a matter of 3 months. There's no long term vision at DSI, as product alignment, teams, employee silos, messaging, value prop, and leadership changes occur on a 3-6 month basis. The core of this business's problem lies with the CEO, Mark Goode. Mark is an ego driven sad excuse for a leader. His method of "leadership" trickles down to his direct reports (some of them, others were actually good people despite Mark's attempts to make them otherwise). If you enjoy getting bombarded with expletives and criticism for not having a next step updated in your sales pipeline, you might enjoy working for this company. DSI not once distributed compensation plans on time while I was there. The entire sales team went nearly 3 months before learning how they would be paid for the year. There were sales that had pay withheld because the compensation plan was not released yet. Compensation plans are also bottom of the barrel when it comes to payout. If you're okay with making less than 1% of margin at a software company for hitting and exceeding quota, then this place is for you. If you're okay with continued increase to quota paired with a decrease in the percentage you make from your sales, you might enjoy DSI. For salespeople who are top of their game, and are expecting the software industry to treat them well, and compensate them handsomely for making the company a ton of money, then this place probably isn't for you. There really is so much wrong with DSI, and the worst part about it all is that they have a fantastic customer base, a product that is actually incredibly valuable, and a development team that kicked butt. The things the developers were asked to do were not easy, and they made it happen. There really are good people at this company, but the "leader" here is a huge issue. He needs to replace, and quickly, or DSI won't be around much longer. As to all of these positive reviews, you'll notice that they all pretty much say the same thing. They're canned responses. They're fake people. DONT FALL FOR IT.
