Pros

Amazing benefits, unlimited time off, great food

Cons

Aside from overworking, overextending and fundamentally mistreating employees within the client services department, Dealer.com has a sexual harassment problem. I was sexually harassed for months on end by a senior team member. I finally worked up the courage to bring this up to management and was asked whether or not I wanted the issue to be reported. I felt as though the implication was that I should say no, so I did. The harassment continued, and finally I brought it up again once I found out this person had harassed multiple other people. This time we met with HR, and I was told that there was nothing they could do unless other people came forward. This blatant sexual harasser has since been promoted. This is not the first, not even the second person to behave inappropriately towards me at dealer.com. The culture breeds this kind of behavior, and it needs to stop. Had I known my rights, and felt more confident in my support systems i would have taken all of the steps necessary to ensure that i could feel comfortable and safe at work.

Pros

Great downtown Manhattan Beach location, 2 blocks to the beach, on-site cafe, nice locker rooms, after work activities such as beach volleyball and yoga

Cons

Archaic management structure and function is horrible, training is non-existent, scarce resources, constantly changing priorities, revolving door of employees. It seems like a great place to work at first, but you soon realize it is little more than a facade and a trap. Get out while you can, or better yet, do yourself a favor and do not sign on with this company. There are many better than the dealer.com crap show.

Pros

The engineers I worked with were highly competent and super nice. A great, generous bunch of guys.

Cons

Management has let the network infrastructure rot for years. There was no disaster recovery site and key systems were not backed up. Production servers in California depended on systems in a VT server room which had inadequate cooling. There were frequent outages as a result of overheating. The company has been sold to DealerTrack.com in Long Island so I'd think twice about moving to VT.
