Pros

One of the few "good" options for employers in the Burlington area. There are plenty of amenities (gym, workout classes, cafeteria) for those interested in corporate benefits. My favorite thing about Dealer.com is how invested the company is in the local community.

Cons

The balance between management and the average employee is horribly lopsided. No matter what progress any particular team would make, the messages communicated by management would effectively negate it and/or bring up all new issues. My first 16 months with the Copywriting team felt like one long crunch, focused on working our way out from an enormous backlog of customer content; a problem which could have been mitigated sooner or even avoided entirely with more effective management and an ounce of foresight. On top of all of this, the heath insurance offered by Cox Automotive was horrible compared to what was provided prior and resulted in nearly 2 years of not having an in-network dentist in the local area before I left the company.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It’s disappointing to hear you had a less than ideal experience during your time with us. Many of the issues you mentioned were addressed with new leadership. New leadership quickly identified the reason for the backlog was due to the need for additional headcount. Several internal promotions have led to Supervisors supporting fewer team members, which provides them time to continue writing copy. We are evolving our practices to ensure our team members have the best experience. Thanks again and I hope you are enjoying your new opportunity.

Pros

Perks are good - gym, massages, discounts on ski passes & beer Friday. Unfortunately that is all that remains of the company culture that is so often bragged about. Generally everyone has a good attitude and easy to work with.

Cons

No opportunity to move on from entry-level positions. Client services are growing fast but management seems to have a hard time keeping up. Clients are often rude and difficult to work with and employees are often given an overwhelming client load with little support. Promises from the “big guys” in Atlanta fall short and proper health care is still not a priority. Long days in front of computer with little personal interaction. Little room for creativity, and very little recognition or reward from management.

Pros

- super awesome corporation for the resume - great food options in the cafe - onsite amenities were fabulous. (BTV) - embraced open source solutions and performed make-or-buy analysis at a semi-regular basis. - the verticals in this company allowed for opportunity to contribute to many different code bases and solve many different problems. - in house hackathons. Also, company wide hackathons - CI/CD is amazing to work with.

Cons

- health care. I spent all of my political capital trying (unsuccessfully) to change the health care offering. - Technology choice: it’s a large corporation, so sometimes the tech that you’re super jazzed to use gets tossed to the wayside for what’s more standard. - many folks are looking elsewhere for employment opportunities, so it’s impossible to assume that the folks you know will be there in three weeks. - compensation is way below national average, but competitive to the other local competition MyWebGrocer.
