Pros

People are great as well as the family. They genuinely care about the employees and are very active and hands on in the day to day business.

Cons

Unfortunately it has been my experience that people are promoted based on who they know rather than skills, contributions, and experience. The director level and supervisors need a major overhaul. If you are looking to move up the best advice I can give is kissued up to the directors. You will be overlooked otherwise.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review and to share your opinion. I agree with you, we have a fantastic group of people that work here and the Family is wonderful as well. In fact, that is one of the many reasons I work for Delicato. I am, however, disappointed to hear of your perception with regard to internal promotions. As an organization we strongly encourage the development and growth of our employees so they are ready when there is a promotion opportunity. We make every effort to make sure our employees are aware of open jobs. Promotion decisions are made in consultation with several leaders and not by one individual to ensure different perspectives. In fact, YTD we have internally promoted over 20 employees and we are very proud of that number. Please feel free to contact your HR Business Partner to discuss your concerns.

Great company, but bad management in certain departments.

Pros

Good hours, good pay, alot of perks, good benefits, free wine, family oriented.

Cons

Bad management on the state compliance side and a lot of unprofessionalism. Management allows personal friendships and relationships to spill into the work place, causes drama, tension, unfair treatment, favoritism and retaliation because concerns are not addressed properly because management and coworkers are close friends. Does not offer formal or much training to new hires and sets them up for failure. I do not recommend working in this department at all simply because management cannot separate their friendships from coworkers and it causes the team to not function properly because everyone is uncomfortable or walking on eggshells.

We are sorry to hear you had a negative experience at Delicato. We pride ourselves on our open door policy and encourage anyone who has concerns to have conversations with their HR Business Partner. This can be a very effective way to address concerns in a productive, timely manner. If you would still like to share your concerns in more detail with us, please contact our Vice President of Human Resources, Eleanor Gathany at Eleanor.Gathany@Delicato.com. She would be more than happy to hear from you. In addition, we consider one of Delicato’s strengths to be our inclusive culture and the fact that employees are treated as family. Because of this, we encourage a collaborative versus an autocratic approach. We recently launched a culture survey with over 88% employee participation and once we receive the results, we will have a better idea of our areas for improvement. Finally, an area of considerable focus for the company in the last 2 years has been in Training and Development. We offer a variety of courses covering many topics and strongly encourage all employees to take advantage of these opportunities. Thank you for your feedback.
