Pros

If you are early in your career, you will learn everything you need to know about how NOT to operate a business and what to look out for in a boss.

Cons

DI is a 26 year old AV company that became a complete dinosaur due to a hard-headed owner, stuck in his ways, who refuses to listen to anyone around him. They are an old school AV company trying to make customers believe they have capabilities they don’t such as media production, video walls, security, telecom etc. Unfortunately, they only have one employee who has more than 3 years of real technology experience. This is because they only hire young college kids who learn a little bit, then realize what a train wreck DI is and move on. If they on-occasion hire a skilled veteran, they promise them the world, get them to agree to come abord at a fraction of their worth, work them 90 hours a week, treat them like crap, absolutely never give them a raise or come through on “promises” and they all leave within a year. The even bigger issue is the neurotic owners who spends 8 hours a day telling everyone how smart he is and how dumb they are, verbally and physically attacking anyone who has an opinion, questions or disagrees with him. It is insane to watch his anticks! He has gone through 5 administrative assistants in 4 years due to this. If you don’t get out alive before he fires you, he will lie to the State and see that you are denied unemployment. (No one has been successful in overcoming this to the best of my knowledge) One attritional note: Any positive DI reviews that you will find on Glass Door are from DI ownership, management and the owner’s family. The owner repeatedly threatens his robot managers to post positive reviews to counter the real ones and will fire them if they refuse. It is insane!

Pros

Retirement contributions. Met some awesome people who feel the same way about the cons. Being with another company, we’ve picked up clients that he has lost and get to hear how terrible he is from the client’s perspective *laughing til I cry emoji*

Cons

Everything else... -Salaried employees get yelled at for not working 90hrs a week -Hourly employees are lucky to work 20 hrs a week -You’ll drive 6 hours a day and not get paid for it -The owner is so sketchy that he gets kicked off of jobs constantly and loses contracts regularly -The only way this company survives is they take the jobs that no one else wants -It’s obvious when the owner is not around as the office is as excited as kids in a candy shop to be free from the tyranny of the dictator -You have to watch your hours and expense reports closely as they constantly get messed up -You get threatened to pay for damages that were caused because the correct tools were not supplied (ex. Putting a 15ft ladder in a 12ft van because he would rather buy a new car than ladder racks) -When you inevitably quit, expect to receive lawyer letters that say you have stolen from him -When the owner is so dumb he can’t even pass the generic AV exam, you really have to worry about how he sells himself to clients -You take up smoking just so you can have breaks -When you put in your notice, you can expect to get life threats and be compared to terrorists and Edward Snowden (I cant even make this stuff up)
