Pros

Dexcom is a good company overall. If you have the right manager, they will see your talents and help you grow. Your experience depends on the department and manager. I like lunch and learns. Also the health conventions are fun.

Cons

Dexcom has been known to be one of the lower paying biotech companies in the area. It's a good place to learn then take the knowledge to another company that will pay you better. They hire many temp workers and conversion to permanent takes a while, if you do get hired. Dexcom's growth is too fast. The facilities are not made to hold as many people as we have. This is resulting in parking issues. Communication between departments could be better. No 401k matching, no tuition reimbursement, low pay compared to industry standard.

Pros

Dexcom is an extremely fast paced and demanding place to work. Because the company is growing so quickly, there is always work to be done and a high amount of pressure coming from management to excel. If you are up for a challenge and you know how to get things done, I highly recommend working at Dexcom because you will ultimately be rewarded for your efforts. I started as a contractor and was converted to a full-time employee. I have since then moved on to a different department that I find more enjoyable and fitting to my skill-set. The people here are friendly and management (at least my managers) sincerely try to set you up for success (through trainings, networking, etc.).

Cons

Due to the fast pace of growth, the knee-jerk reaction to correct outstanding issues is to hire more people. Unfortunately, this causes the hiring process to be rushed which results in a lot of people who are not a good fit for the position. Benefits/pay could be better: there is no matching on 401k and the pay is lower relative to other medical device companies in San Diego.

Pros

Dexcom is an amazing place to work at - the people, the company values, the mission are all important forces in the current world, advancing into a new, dependable age of technology. The pay is certainly well in terms of stability, and includes plenty of overtime opportunity for those who want to work extra hours. I have worked here for over a year now, and am extremely grateful to be apart of this company. Being able to connect with individuals who serve a higher purpose than themselves is key here - there are always new tasks and plenty of work on a daily basis, as the company is growing, along with our order of operations. Simply put, the more you increase your own personal value and display a willingness to work, the more opportunity is presented to you - the company is lucrative with their pay increases and bonuses as you think and act in this manner. The environment is very professional and people are friendly.

Cons

If you are not a motivated individual, don't work well on a team, refuse to display kindness or interact well with people, or work toward a bigger mission beyond you- don't work here, you will find it difficult to work in physical and mental isolation. This place is meant for people who can think beyond their own personal income, will show up to work today for the purpose of advancing in medical technology and building devices, to assist patients in monitoring their glucose levels.

Dexcom Response

Thank you for helping people outside of Dexcom understand what it is like to work here. I appreciate your thoughts on the environment and what it takes to excel here. I also think that your advice to management has been heard and acted upon in terms of the employee survey and that this has given us a great baseline for continuing to improve the company environment.
