Pros

Overall, managers are willing to really work with difficult schedules... around school, family, religious events, etc. Also, the pay is good if you actually work. You can get a substantial raise quite early if you are hitting your sales goals.

Cons

Work culture is one of competition amongst employees rather than teamwork. There is NO team building whatsoever. Also, you get written up for not getting credit applications opened and can get fired for not opening any three months in a row. The sales goals they give you can be pretty outrageous and if they schedule a lot of sales associates you end up fighting over all the customers...

Pros

You will get payed higher than Macy's and you don't work on commission.

Cons

If you don't meet you're goals whatever percentage you were under they deduct that off you're hourly pay once a year. So if the economy is slow your check gets smaller and smaller...but, If you are over you get payed that percentage over (but, with the economy the way it is this is really hard to do). And believe me they make the goal almost unreachable. They underestimated me in sales and I was so far over my goal within the first 3 months that they made me a manager so that they only had to pay me a 5% increase instead of 40%...I got screwed! They do really crappy things like that to their employees all the time just to save themselves money. I wouldn't suggest anyone to work there b/c they would have to put up with things like that.

Pros

If you are looking for an easy job that pays next to nothing where you can coast...."ding, ding, ding. You have just won the jackpot" and should work here. Your discount is by far the best esp when there is a really good sale you can use it in conjunction with. The people that want to be there and work are great. Cosmetics was a great place to be because we got free samples and testers of all the new products for our line to try out in order to sell them. if you work for a larger line, their education/training programs are really good.

Cons

Next to nothing pay, only off 1 weekend (Sat & Sun) per month, work every holiday no matter what, required to work store inventory, long hours where you are on your feet the entire time, and very rude/difficult customers. Healthcare coverage is so expensive you cannot afford it and there are no other options in place. Some coworkers can be extremely difficult to work with and there is very little to do about it. Very little opportunity for promotion unless you are willing to do whatever it takes to increase sales profits and gross margin over the year before, especially showing amazing increases in that years promotions and/or push items because that gets the Store and it's Manager and its regional recognition.
