Pros

I had to leave because of personal reasons, but it was an amazing place to work with talented colleagues and people who were respectful of my time and ability.

Cons

It was a bit too async. Sometimes there were tons of delays waiting for a resolution when all it took was a simple video call.

Thank you for all the helpful feedback. Although async-first is a core part of our culture, we're continually learning how to best balance async and sync work to maintain agility while respecting everyone's freedom and flexibility. - Andrew Gobran

Pros

Very trusting its employees that they would manage their time and work well. A mutual trust created a positive work cycle for both parties.

Cons

General comment for remote work: the lack of in-person social interaction during work could be daunting for some. Finding a nice co-working space (which is part of Doist perk) could be helpful to make up the missing social aspect.

Thank you for the feedback! The lack of in-person social interaction can definitely be daunting. All the more reason for us to continue doing as much as we can to create opportunities for the team to socialize remotely and in the rare in-person opportunities. - Andrew Gobran

Remote work and a passionate team

Pros

The team is amazing. Everyone is passionate about productivity and how the product can help people to achieve more in their life. The company has significant perks for their employees and helps you to keep a work-life balance. Doist recommends the employees to work smarter and make their 8 hours as productive as possible instead of working overtime. All coding decisions are taken as a team, and all opinions are taken into consideration before implementing. The team is very mature about those decisions. Even when someone disagrees there are no hard feelings, but a sense of "disagree and commit", which is *very* positive, IMO.

Cons

Much of the code is developed in-house for many years, so it's not expected to have the newest backend framework running.
