Pros

I am so impressed with the QUALITY of people in the DoorDash family. I appreciate that the Recruiting Team is selective about the folks they interview and ultimately bring onto the team (and the ones we ask to leave if it turns out they're not a good fit). I've previously worked in places where there's been a lot of drama and tension because the company let "bad apples" stay (which created tension, stress, and negativity at the office). DoorDash is very careful about making sure that people on the team are motivated, committed, and properly compensated for their hard work and brilliance. I've also worked at companies that are incredibly secretive and create a hierarchy of power and only reveal little bits of info to small select groups (which breeds fear, speculation, and resentment). So it's refreshing to be a part of this transparent and supportive culture at DoorDash. I greatly appreciate the level of flexibility we have when it comes to working hours that jive with one's lifestyle. As long as we are getting our work done, we don't have to be planted in a chair for 8 hours straight, 5 days/week on a rigid schedule. I appreciate the mentality of focusing on people's strengths or "superpowers" versus stressing out over their weaknesses. I think it's a much more effective manner of managing by recognizing what a person does well and encouraging more of that behavior/action (instead of trying to force people into a mold that will just consistently break). There is a LOT of room for career growth and exploration within the company for those who are ambitious and work hard. It's a great place to begin a career. The amazing people, supportive atmosphere, fun spirit, and inspiring vision make DoorDash an exciting place to come to work every day. Aside from the interesting and challenging work, we're constantly being encouraged (and supported) to grow and learn MORE! We have access to a lot of resources and trainings, and we're encouraged to take risks and be proactive with our creative ideas and interests. It's a very collaborative and supportive community. I feel incredibly privileged to work with remarkably talented, humble, kind, active, generous, and extraordinary colleagues at DoorDash. This is a place where I plan to work for many years, and will continue to be offered career advancement & compensation increases. DoorDash is booming as a business and has a solid and exciting future in the on-demand delivery space. I am super pumped about the direction we're headed, and believe strongly in our community-driven mission. We focus on loving our customers (which includes merchants, dashers, and everyone who orders from us). We believe in excellent customer service, which also says a lot about how we treat each other, with respect and kindness. + Challenging & Interesting Work + Flexible Schedule + Generous Benefits + Competitive Salary + Complimentary Meals, Snacks, Beverages + Great Perks (Gym Reimbursement!) + Amazing People + Career Growth Opportunities + Supportive Environment + Transparency + Discretion + Honesty + Active & Healthy Employees + Brilliant Coworkers + Fun Atmosphere + Startup Life + Positive Energy

Cons

Some folks aren't cut out for a startup atmosphere. We are not a traditional, old school, conservative, rigid, and narrow-minded company. We believe in taking risks, we don't have private offices (the CEO/Founders and other leaders all sit among us). We believe in taking a great idea and putting it to the test (be an owner!). There's a ton of flexibility here, so someone who wants a cookie-cutter 9am-5pm predictable job would not enjoy it here. We're a creative, courageous, and clever group of people. We believe everyone should be their authentic self, so we're anti-discrimination, and everyone is encouraged to dress, talk, and live how they want to. Again, if someone is looking for a stuffy corporate setting where there's a dress code and a thick rule book, you won't find that at DoorDash. Yes, we do have a lot of folks that put in a lot of hours, but it's a reflection of their dedication and commitment. We also have an open vacation policy, so you can take a break whenever you need to. DoorDash also advocates flexible schedules and working from home, so there's definitely a good & fair balance for the long hours.

Pros

- Small teams - Huge opportunity to make an impact in your role - A lot of room to grow both on a personal and professional level because you're given a lot of opportunities and responsibilities that you wouldn't get elsewhere - Everyone is very passionate about the product we are building - Great perks (free lunch, snacks, fun offsites, etc)

Cons

Sometimes longer hours (not a 9-5 job), but when you love the work and the people you're working with it's all worth it :)

Pros

Leaving a big tech company for DoorDash was the best decision of my life (thus far). There are so many positives to working here: 1) The people: The people at DD are incredible. They're growth minded, collaborative, and highly intelligent (both intellectually and emotionally). They drive me to be better every day. 2) Impact and responsibility: One thing I've noticed at DD is when you exceed your expectations you're given high-impact projects. Every one of these projects has challenged me and forced me to grow. I'm 6 years out of college and I am responsible for projects that Google/Facebook wouldn't have let me touch for 15 years. 3) Leadership: One of the big company mottos is 'ask for forgiveness, not for permission' - and they mean it. Leadership encourages employees to be owners, to take calculated risks and to fail fast. I've seen every solid contributor rewarded with promotions and raises.

Cons

People have mentioned work-life balance as an issue and I would agree, but I've also seen a number of improvements to WLB in the past 2-3 quarters as it's been a top priority for leadership. It's true that I am still working ~60 hour weeks, but this is a startup and that is to be expected - especially when I am growing as much as I am.
