Worst company I’ve worked for

Pros

Remote But not worth it

Cons

The pay is insanely low for my position. I have to secretly move out of state to be back with my parents bc they do not pay cost of living. They will place you on a pip for the smallest mistake and fear monger you. Constant stressful environment and everyone I speak to hates their job. My manager never has an agenda for my 1:1. “What are you working on” doesn’t count. I had to go to HR due to an inappropriate comment a leader made to me and it was pushed under the rug and my follow up emails have been ignored. Chaos and goals constantly being changed. Role is super confusing for no reason. Was told by the senior manager in an all hands meeting there is no room to grow. They proceeded to give us tips on how to optimize our resumes to apply elsewhere.

Pros

- Remote work from home - No vesting period on RSU's

Cons

- No career growth in sight. Have gone through 4 different managers. One manager was let go before the yearly review and was given low-performance reviews out of the blue in order to not give a pay raise. - Managers suck. Literally don't do anything but push aggressive timelines on you and manipulate you into saying yes all the time. They also want you to prepare all the docs that they should be preparing. Literally don't do any work but act as a middleman between higher-ups. - Initially joined with 3 engineers and now down to me handling the workload of 3 and still no promotions. - Professionally toxic! - If you are not an E5, you have 3 years to get there from E4 to E5. If not you are fired.

Pros

Company is growing quickly and doing well.

Cons

Despite a culture of "doers", DoorDash, more than any other company I've worked at, talks more about doing something than actually doing anything. This is apparent from all the necessary docs and meetings. Those need to be trimmed down so people can actually focus on getting work done. There are also too many middle managers not driving anything but focused on empire building, leading to more meetings, more docs, more BS projects that don't contribute to the bottomline, and more stress and burnout for the ICs actually contributing. And senior leadership is very top-down when setting strategy without being grounded at all on execution, thereby setting unrealistic expectations that contribute to low morale and a high stress environment with bad work life balance.
