- super collegial culture; the camaraderie at Dropbox is very palpable - people genuinely enjoy hanging out with each other and this results in great teamwork, reduced friction in getting things done, etc - creative energy. as a company, Dropbox is really focused on this, and this manifests in hiring and events like hackweek, etc - great perks (3 meals a day, onsite gym, great office space, etc). people really feel taken care of.

Cons

- everyone's very high-achieving and so the demands and expectations are very high, which is not really a bad thing.. - there's a real need to add more bodies to the organization especially given the pace of growth; on many teams it often feels like too few people trying to do a lot which can be somewhat overwhelming on occasion

Pros

People here are off-the-charts intelligent and genuinely give a sh*t about the work they do. People are pretty silly too. The morning after a company-wide debate on the merits of various grades of maple syrup, someone brought in six jars of different syrups and we had a taste-test. Totally spontaneous and totally awesome. People will drop whatever they're doing to help others. This goes for everything from fixing a broken script to assembling a ping pong table. As long as this is a criteria we look for in candidates (which it is), I expect this value to persist.

Cons

On some teams, there is an unspoken culture of always needing to be available to work. I wish our HR policies and general people management systems were stronger There are occasional bouts of entitlement when it comes to company perks. We are getting a little spoiled.

People are tops: open culture, playful attitude - great example is that non-management employees spend time together outside the office, throw company-wide parties, just because they enjoy their coworkers. Low politics, little stratification - founders have a desk right next to everyone else, interact with everyone. Generous perks - suite at AT&T park open to all employees, frequent parties, free food. Great office and office location - natural daylight, fresh design, open plan. Competitive compensation - market-rate salaries, solid equity Lots of upside still - great place in the risk/reward curve; good place to grow your career

Cons

Still in startup mode - longer hours compared to a settled big tech firm (Google, Microsoft) Hard to get your friends hired - stiff hiring standards
