Great Team, Bad Management

Pros

The front-line e-comm team is phenomenal. I've truly never worked with such smart, empathetic, and caring individuals. They are truly the lifeblood that's keeping the company afloat.

Cons

Favoritism from management, lack of accountability from management, no matter how good you are, they will find a way to nitpick you so you always feel inadequate, empty growth promises, vague explanations to hiring delays, an it's your job attitude despite things functionally not running smoothly, etc. Management thinks they're doing a great job while actively reducing any and all benefits offered during hiring (including time off, as understaffed people can't get time off). Management will leave you hanging during heavy volume while saying "it is what it is".

Pros

- If you get a lot of energy from untangling messes, this is the company for you. There's likely opportunity for those who can right the ship. - Remote work, unlimited PTO, etc

Cons

- Honestly, I wasn't impressed by the caliber of talent at Dutchie. Everyone is nice, but I consistent ran into people who were really winging it. In my previous companies, I was used to feeling like I was the dumbest person in the room. At Dutchie, I kept feeling like "um....does no one else see this???" - There isn't psychological safety. People DO NOT want to hear bad news and shoot messengers. This is causing massive issues to be swept under the rug. I'm still worried about retaliation from posting this review and I don't work there anymore.

Pros

My teammates were cool as hell. Openly talking about cannabis in a workplace setting is a blast.

Cons

Leadership lacks the foresight to properly run this company. As a result of poor planning, they spent too much money and hired too many people at breakneck pace. So of course, they just followed what the rest of the cool kids are doing and laid off a chunk of folks instead of finding a way to repurpose them. This was just weeks after Ross painted a rosy picture of Dutchie's future and telling us all that we have nothing to worry about. Based on some of the folks that were let go, it almost felt like names were picked out of a hat. A lot of them fell into the "last one in, first one out" bucket. They claimed that some of it had to do with performance, but as a top performer on my team with glowing reviews, I find that hard to believe. I wouldn't know either way because my manager never bothered to check in on me, just someone in HR. So much for #dutchiefam.
