Pros

Unlimited PTO, Flexible work life balance

Cons

Unclear role responsibilities, Inexperienced Leadership/Management team, underpaid and difficult to get a promotion/raise, team NPS is very low and even though leadership is aware, they don't do anything/listen to their team, if you give feedback to leadership or your Teritory Manager, you will be placed on a Performance Management Plan, Teritory Managers don't understand the day to day of their CSMs and don't know the SOPs, lack of coverage while you are on PTO. If you do get laid off , which the company has quietly done multiple times to be "conservative", you can't negotiate your severance pay/ separation agreement because their People Ops' team WILL NOT respond to your outreach for two weeks and when they do, they will tell you nothing can be changed. Myself and a team member who was also laid off at the same time had to wait A MONTH AND A HALF to receive our severance and when we did, it was less than half of what we were given. It's very suspicious to be laid off 3 months ahead of your stock options being fully vested when you've been told multiple times this decision was not performance based. Don't work for

Dutchie Response

Dutchie provides equitable and competitive compensation to attract, retain, and reward high-performing employees. We tie achievement of performance goals to total rewards, including cash compensation, equity, benefits, skills development, and career progression opportunities. Our culture embraces different perspectives and welcomes feedback. We regularly provide opportunities to share feedback anonymously or directly, and transparently share action plans based on employee sentiment. Unfortunately, like many in the tech industry, we’ve had to make tough decisions that led to restructuring. We believe these decisions have set Dutchie up for success going forward and to deliver impactful solutions for our customers. Thanks for taking the time to share your review.

Pros

Great coworkers who are very chill and supportive.

Cons

Company wants to attract top talent while not offering top salaries, 401k and lacks competitive severance package. All of the people on my team are white. All of the software engineers at my level are white. The company over all is very white. Company is slowly tightening communication policies. At all-hands meetings, when there is an opportunity to ask questions, employees are given shallow answers publicly and then told to speak to their managers if they have any more concerns. Ultimately, not resolving any public concerns. CTO has a problem with micromanagement and has been told countless times without correction. Managers have left over it, and still no change or accountability. Ethics in general around working for white ppl who make millions in cannabis while poc sit in prison selling the same product. Company claims it's mission and value driven and CEO claims he's changing the world which very much falls into Silicon Valley saviorism tropes.

Pros

Remote, a cool industry, great benefits (no 401k matching) There are some great people there who know the industry well and very passionate about cannabis and the product. You can be yourself, everyone gets that you're at home and are flexible. If you dont have a job or trying to get out of cannabis retail, why not?

Cons

Lot's of instability. I almost feel bad for sourcing people away from steady jobs to come here. They are very meeting heavy and sometimes it's hard to get your actual job done. Leadership is poor. There are no check and balances. They like to say we want people who will just "get ish done" or "move first ask questions later", but it results in poor communication and people just taking on things to look busy and not making sure that it is effective or that the other people involved actually need it. A lot of the leaders are people who have just been there for a long time, but not neccessarily skilled enough to take the departments to the next level. You get the general sense that management is just winging it (which aren't we all) but because they dont really know, they dont really trust other people to do their jobs either. If things are changing they will just stop talking in general or even ignore you. You just have to kinda feel in your gut that things are gonna change. In a startup, prioties are going to change frequently. HOWEVER while I was there they would change on a daily sometimes hourly basis. They could care less about diversity. From what I've seen, if they are doing lay offs and you are BIPOC, you should be a little nervous. I dont think they are trying to be racist but they are not thoughtful about diversity AT ALL. You gotta be apart of the in crowd to make it here. It really helps to be white, male, have worked at Toast and get their jokes.
