Pros

Remote culture. Flexible working arrangements.

Cons

Working at Dutchie feels like being on a conveyor belt to get laid off. Layoffs happen every few weeks now. Hundreds of employees were let go during my time there including high performers at every level of the organization. There are no programs for employee development, priorities change from week to week so you're never sure if you're staying on task within your role. Salaries do not match pace with inflation - if you stay more than a couple years you are earning less than when you started. Management will talk down to you and tell you you're lucky to have a job. It is incredibly demoralizing and terrifying to work here.

Pros

Opportunity to work in a fast-evolving and high-growth industry Fully remote work offered flexibility Some genuinely talented and passionate coworkers The mission of supporting small cannabis businesses is compelling

Cons

Career development was not a priority: No formal reviews, career progression frameworks were introduced but not followed through, and personal growth conversations were rare Organizational instability: Silent layoffs became a monthly occurrence, creating confusion around ownership and responsibilities Product reliability issues: Flagship product routinely failed on the industry's most critical sales days, leaving teams scrambling to recover losses Lack of cross-functional alignment: Minimal feedback loops between customer-facing teams and product leadership, leaving customer pain points unaddressed Remote culture felt performative and disconnected, with minimal genuine engagement or team cohesion Company lacks diversity, particularly in leadership and decision-making roles Leadership operates in silos and feels out of touch with day-to-day challenges Lack of onboarding and training: I had an hour long call with HR on my first day and was told to go figure things out... If that wasn't a sign of things to come :)

Don’t do it

Pros

Not a single thing, tbh

Cons

Toxic work culture. Overworked teams with unrealistic expectations. People are overqualified or under qualified for their roles. Micromanagement if you’re not a manager’s favorite. Managers don’t value you, you’re under appreciated and just a number/replacable. Cult-like. Lack of growth opportunities unless you’re favored. No work-life balance. Mismatched workload and pay. Leadership cannot be trusted (CEO doesn’t care about cannabis, only about $$). Poor/non existent communication. Incompetent leaders. No 401k. Nepotism. Questionable ethics. Silences customers and employees with money for their mistakes.
