Morgan Stanley Ruined Everything

Pros

Before MS, Great culture, good pay, leadership made decisions based on employee feedback and tried to find ways to help people grow and build a career. Technology was actually advancing. People were proud to work for that ETrade.

Cons

Ever since February 2020, when the sale was announced, this place has been going downhill and it has only accelerated since the former ETrade leadership was removed and replaced by some MS clowns with no experience in this space and not a single logical or reasonable thought amongst them. Expectations for teams to hit their production and sales stats are under considerably higher scrutiny, with a peculiar emphasis on some totally irrelevant data points. While the emphasis on actually satisfying clients has taken a back seat, which is evident in how complicated and inefficient these recently ordained overlords have made just about everything. As a result, people are miserable and constantly waiting for the next decree to be issued at the very last second before its haphazard implementation. It’s a well known fact that Morgan Stanley bought ETrade for their stock plans business, and the platforms. Lesser known is that their own self directed product was a colossal failure, and now, the same group of incompetent fools with no idea about the retail trading world are inserting their unimaginable ignorance into what was once a highly regarded firm, and in doing so, destroying everything that E*Trade used to be, one self promoting, unilateral decision at a time.

Pros

You can still make some good money

Cons

They turned all sales people in to call center service associates. You are expected to take inbound calls. Management expresses that it still has a sales focus, but there is only one focus on sales and about 5+ others on service indicators. The Financial Consultant job was a great gig that is long gone like the rest of the self-directed brokerages.

Pros

I obtained my licenses here. I cried, it was brutal, most of the people I was hired with did pass and got a 10k pay decrease.

Cons

This company was bought by the evil conglomerate morgan Stanley. They have changed the position tremendously so they can lay off people that don’t meet the useless metrics, or people leave. So incredibly understaffed, yet somehow they gaslight the employees into thinking it’s our fault. No employee is happy. The customers can tell. The company has really bad internal issues with operations and somehow they are focusing on metrics that do not matter like a minimum sales quota to move all of the assets from Etrade to Morgan Stanley. It is very car salesman-y and it something we are required to do or our job is threatened. I have almost pooped my pants and while working and was getting stressed because I would have to take break time beyond our two allotted 15 minute breaks during my 8 hour shift. Our schedules are booked minute for minute. I miss seeing the sun. Do not work for this company. Unless you want to be mistreated, constantly in fear of losing your job, or laid off.
