Pros

The people that work there are great! Everyone is friendly, including most of the students. You have freedom to run your classroom however you want.

Cons

No benefits and very low pay. Have to teach 5 hours of lecture several times a week for the same class. The students have a hard time grasping complex subjects because there is no time to study after class is over. I was hired and had to start teaching a week later, the laboratory supplies had not arrived yet- and I was told that I had to figure out my own way to teach labs. I ended up buying my own supplies, and submitting receipts for reimbursement (which I never received). I did not get an e-mail or computer account until the end of the first term that I was teaching (each term is 5 weeks, so it goes by very fast). The main office in Virginia Beach is the only one that can create your computer/ e-mail/ moodle accounts. There is no way to get it expedited.

Pros

Great dedication to helping students gain real skills that will get them real jobs. A sense of a "shared" mission to help students better themselves.

Cons

Dealing with outsiders who assume all for-profit schools are the same. ECPI University has high standards .Some people come here with the wrong attitude and then get all negative when it doesn't work out. Most of the people I work with are happy and dedicated.

Pros

full-time instructorship with master's degree, no classes on Friday... that's about it! I had some hard-working students who I felt sorry for because the programs were so bad.

Cons

long/late hours, admin reps lie to students, poor compensation, upper admin has no understanding of higher education, no room for development, outdated/broken equipment, micro-management, no support of faculty, enormous grade inflation, lapsing accreditation, dishonesty in upper admin...
