Pros

*If you work hard and do your job it doesn’t go unnoticed and your coworkers are like family. *Management listens *Almost everyone is in recovery and that makes for closer work relationships *Get to help guys at the beginning of their sober journey. It really feels like you make a difference. *TONS of PTO! (Thank you!)

Cons

*pay isn’t great but it definitely is getting better (although the differentials and overtime does help) *Not very consistent with the rules *short staffed so that means we do a LOT at our facility, and with the pay we get, it gets exhausting

Pros

My clients. My counselor while doing my internship was wonderful and instilled wisdom I'll keep with me while I'm in this field. I now know what questions to ask when applying for new positions. Going through such a toxic environment for over a year, I truly appreciate where I am now in a way I couldn't have before.

Cons

Employees don't stay, and instead of hiring new counselors, management expects counselors to take on double the workload. Supervisor was fired shortly after I started, and I went over a year without one. Majority of employees are completely burnt out and have terrible boundaries with co-workers and clients. Feels like high school with the constant gossip. No professionalism. Mental health professionals are miserable, and constantly leaving. Treating employees so horribly transfers to clients, no matter how hard counselors try to hide it.
