Pros

The projects I work on are great and the people I work with are also wonderful.

Cons

It is an administrative nightmare. The H&S philosophy is great, the execution is a nightmare of useless paperwork and certifications. The IT is terrible. It doesn't appear that anyone manages the IT program. Software doesn't work or is glitchy and you'd think we are doing defense department work and not environmental consulting. In a classic consulting fashion, partners have low billability goals and everyone else has a goal of 85%+. Brilliant.

Pros

Opportunities to work with lots of talented and brilliant people on fascinating projects. There is no lack of opportunity to learn new skills - in fact you have no real choice but to learn quickly, as it's essentially sink or swim.

Cons

Lack of transparency when it comes to bonuses and raises, and lack of consistency in promotion processes. Starting pay is ok but raises are laughable, so it's not surprising that they cannot retain top talent since other companies are willing to pay more for the experience they gain here. Utilization goals create a perverse disincentive that prevents people from taking sick days when they need to. The focus on DE&I is window dressing - hyping up their global DE&I initiative gives the appearance that they are doing something while they ignore issues at the local levels.

Pros

Many large scale interesting projects and Fortune 500 clients that are willing to pay for good work. Many well educated and talented colleagues to learn from. Good safety culture.

Cons

Leadership is still mostly male and all white. Pressure to under investigate and report injuries and illness. Little chance for career advancement for those who aren’t already wealthy and well connected.
