Pros

1) Clients are major/big firms. 2) Promotions usually occur in time if the performance is good. 3) Good people to work with.

Cons

1) Staffing - From day one you get staffed at a client site you would hardly ever get to visit EXL office for anything, its almost non-existent. And once staffed with a client, rotations to other clients is very less common. 2) Individual Performance - Your performance review entirely depends on client feedback since you have virtually no work related connections with the company seniors itself. 3) Expanding Business - New projects sales pitch being done for bad quality assurance work in the name of analytics consulting, majority of the new work is documentation(yes, work includes customizing word fonts, size, charts etc) 4) Finance Department - Expenses are never approved on time, you end up spending/owing $3k-$4k every month to the firm pending usually another month until you get it back. 5) Travel - If you want to flyback to your base location every weekend, have a good reason to get flights every time or else you ll end up staying at the hotel in a remote area(since hotel budget is low).

Do not work at the Hartford branch

Pros

flexible schedule, nice downtown location, all but one middle manager knows how to be a manager

Cons

plenty! extremely low pay, promotions/upward movement non existent, all but one middle managers have been part of the Trumbull organization who have no management skills, they never let anything go past them to upper management, 2 recent managers (2 years ago, both from Progressive) have destroyed morale and have successfully helped loose projects, but still get paid close to six figures and remain in their position. One of the two joined this place after being demoted at the prior place and most recently the same manager got demoted from operations manager to just manager. Shocking to know this manager has more than 25 complaints against him with HR with zero repercussions. Shocking. Constantly advising employees to leave a they believe this is not a place to "stay". Extremely motivating, NOT! EXL as a whole is a great company to work for but the Hartford branch needs serious help with clearing out the bad apples and giving the "good" worker a chance to better this branch and themselves. My rating is only based on the Hartford Branch not EXL as a whole.

Pros

> Good for first job to get basic “real world” experience in what it’s like to work for corporate America.

Cons

> No opportunity for advancement > Poor compensation > Poor benefits package (not competitive) > Outdated technologies and organizational processes > Cultural challenges - Many of the C-suite leaders are from India (nothing wrong with that to be certain) and the culture is very reflective of that culture—highly hierarchical and class based. Example: Tech support would see what rank you were in their internal classification. If you were a lower rank, you were largely ignored, you were not worth their time. It was just a bit of an adjustment as an American, where we are a bit more egalitarian in the workplace (at least on the superficial/surface level) > On a macro level, the company was highly focused on mergers and acquisitions (M&A). They were so focused on M&A that it almost seemed like an end in and of itself. They had difficulties in incorporating these other entities and leveraging their capabilities effectively. > They lacked a coherent strategic vision for their business. There was a lot of Six Sigma, LinkedIn-esque catch phrases, tossed around (death by PowerPoint), but what they really wanted to be, as a company? It always seemed nebulous at best.
