Pros

There really aren't many great reasons to work at this place. They fool you into thinking it's so "cool" but they offer no room for advancement or really any sort of growth opportunity. They try to sell you on the office space and beer Fridays when really they should be selling you on a great career... but they can't because there's no such thing.

Cons

This place is a joke. If you have a chance, steer clear! They admit to underpaying people because they strongly believe that their culture "makes up for it".

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience at Echo. We do believe that our culture is an excellent reason to join our company, but we offer so much more. Over the past few years we have made it a priority to develop career paths to ensure that our employees are continuing to succeed and grow in their career. We understand that logistics can be a grueling industry at times, which is why we offer incentives and perks to boost company morale in addition to a great career path.

The Truth

Pros

"Beer Friday", just kidding. You get to work with a lot of different personalities and it's a casual atmosphere, although both of those could be said for a lot of workplaces these days.

Cons

The work is monotonous, the hours are long, and the base pay is weak. Hitting commission and making money are almost two different things entirely. There doesn't seem to be any development of talent in any department or at any level. To be successful at Echo seems less dependent on ability or work ethic and more so on your ability to outlast your peers. It is an unofficial company tradition to give a congratulatory round of applause when people quit... That kind of says it all.

Thank you for sharing your review! We understand that the hours are long and the work can be tough, which is why we strive to give our employees a great atmosphere and culture. We believe that by creating a culture of high performance expectations, we set the bar high for hard work and for hard-working employees to see the rewards of that. Work ethic is extremely important in being successful here at Echo! We are constantly working on new ways to train and develop our employees, new hires through management level. If you would like to share more specificity please contact our HR team, as your opinion is important to us!

Pros

Gain entry level work experience, easygoing co-workers

Cons

Echo has had extreme difficulties with turnover. They are currently conducting lunch and learns where they provide employees who have been around more than a 1-2 years to ask why they have stayed. The number of employees with stay after year 1 is 40%. 40%! THIS IS A HORRIBLE RETENTION NUMBER. The job market can be scary at entry level. When you interview know the different types of commission structures and ask questions about how quickly people begin making commission. On average most sales reps do not break through commission for a year and a half 2 years of time. You also are not paid until your customers pay, and companies who work with logistics companies are notorious for paying late. They do not tell you this, they dance around it because they know this is not competitive with there competitors. If necessary use this to get that experience and get out, there is little room for growth and every year they cut commissions for existing reps. They do not want to invest in you because so far they have made stock holders happy and thats the bottom line: if you leave its because you didnt work hard enugh, you didn't put in the hours, "logistics isnt for everyone" Get in and get out. Plenty of other fun, young places to work that will invest in you pay you or both.

Thank you for your review. We are aware of our turnover rate and we have done extensive work digging into finding out what causes our turnover, and what is a healthy rate for our company. We have conducted focus groups for the purpose of having open discussions about what we can improve on directly from the talent that makes this company so great. We understand breaking through to commission can be tough and we prep our employees for this in the interview and hiring process. It can take time to break through commission because we invest in our employees and training our sales reps to have the tools needed to be successful and make a lot of money. We encourage you to reach out to your HR business partner if you have any suggestions, or would like to discuss further.
