Pros

Flex hours WFH privileges Good benefits SOME teams are great to work with Personal growth opportunities Annual raises

Cons

Company culture varies from department by department and office to office-great to terrible Very little growth opportunities Nepotism runs rampant in this company especially if you are married. They let married couples work together which creates tension and conflict of interest when making important decisions and prevent the rest of the teams from having input and higher ups and HR don't see a problem with it. They keep the worst of the worst people employed while the well qualified people get run out and this will continue to happen until the problem is fixed. CEO changes practically every year and the latest one is starting to pull employee perks little by little in favor of looking good to potential buyers.

I simply had to respond myself as the new Chief Talent Officer here. Edmentum is always open to feedback. We take feedback seriously, and see all of it as a positive opportunity for improvement. You are right. We do allow family members to work here - in rare cases. As long as the family member is as or more qualified as any other candidate and there is absolutely no direct reporting relationship between those family members - which there is not in any single situation in the company. We’re sorry to see that you believe that the “worst people” continue to be employed here. I believe our company, product, and team performance speak more loudly for themselves - because we have some pretty amazing work happening here. That can’t happen without great people. Is there diversity and variety in levels of that? Of course there is - like at any company. HR Talent Team people analytics proudly show we have the lowest employee turnover currently than in the past five years, and less than half the rate pf turnover when compared to any other tech company in the industry. We have intentionally hired and kept the most well-qualified experts in all areas. Here’s the scoop, which you were unfortunately not aware of, regarding employee benefits. In the last year alone we have intentionally ADDED several employee benefits, and pulled nothing. We added an additional day of volunteer time off (adding up to now two full days of VTO total), added paid paternity leave, added additional paid holidays (to make sure our employees can comfortably enjoy our holiday week shut-down), and we are now adding HSA as a new option for health insurance savings. And leaders at every single level in the company are dedicated to work flexibility and even remote work. Our CEO, Jamie, is fully dedicated to the positive aspects of every Edmentor’s work experience. And – as everyone here knows - has had a long-standing history with Edmentum. She worked here for over ten years and successfully ran every function in the company – including the HR Talent function – before becoming CEO. She is far from a “new” leader here. Thank you again for the feedback and thank you also for the opportunity to improve. Edmentum wishes you the very best at the next place you land. Dr. Mia Mulrennan Chief Talent Officer

Pros

great people (not necessarily at the manager level), great benefits, flexibliity

Cons

Managers in curriculum department have terrible social skills. There were days I didn't even see my manager and she didn't go out of her way to check on employees. If I got up to visit with coworkers, I was given dirty looks. They treated us like school age children. I worked there 5 years and was fired without any sort of warning for the stupidest reason. Apparently management has enough time to read through months and months of instant messaging conversations to come up with reasons to fire employees who have done good work. Now I am without insurance and have a family to support. My son is 18 months old and I am scrambling to get us covered. COBRA would cost me over $1000. I recently trained other employees on how to use our program which shows I have experience and knowledge about the job. It's a shame. The job was a good job, it was challenging and after five years, I felt very comfortable there and happy with my job. The management is going to ruin the curriculum department.

Unfair business practices

Pros

None that are worthy of writing about.

Cons

Edmentum has a way of dangeling a carrot in front of your face while ramping up the treadmill. Several employees where being paid an unfair wage for the amount of work and travel they were doing. As for myself... I spent many weekends, answered phone calls at 2 a.m. several times, and 90% of my vacation and holidays working not to mention traveling when it wasn't necessary. When I asked if I could get 5k under a competitive wage I was told they would look into it only to give a gaslit response weeks later. I later found out my manager was minimizing my work load to HR. My exit was grossly mishandled. My letter of resignation was refused for over a week. (Yes, refused) When exiting they stated that even though I performed all of the tasks and surpassed my goals I needed to become management there would never be a need for management in my position. 3 weeks later they hired a male manager to fill my position.

We appreciate your feedback. I would like to address some of the comments you provided. Edmentum has a structured compensation practice that involves researching every role and the related job responsibilities as well as consideration for the geographic region in which the position is located when determining a salary range that is fair and competitive in the market. We see ourselves as an employer of choice and believe our compensation philosophy compliments that. We will admit, in some positions, employees do need to go the extra mile and work outside of normal business hours to ensure our products are running efficiently as we keep the educator (our customer) first in everything we do. Making sure that they have access to our products 24/7 is critical to our business. That being said, we also promote a flexible work environment, generous paid-time-off and even have a holiday shutdown, where all employees are off the last week of the year. Lastly, we support a diverse work environment where equal opportunities are available for everyone. I apologize for the negative feelings you have regarding the end of your tenure at Edmentum. I hope that my comments have helped to address some of your concerns.
