      Pros

      Great benefits, great work/life balance, friendly culture, great perks within the office like fruit every day, great coffee and bagels on Fridays.

      Cons

      Management plays favoritism. If you are not on the favorites list, you will be stuck in the same job for a very long time and be passed over for other opportunities as well as pretty much ignored and not helped.

Overall, employee health and well being are highly valued, so vacation reimbursement, fitness reimbursement and healthy food in the office are just some of the ways Edmunds hopes to encourage taking care of one’s mind and body. Meritocracy in promotion decisions is something we take seriously. We’ve put some new practices in place over the past year. We’ve established clear and objective criteria to help inform promotion decisions and have also published all promotion decisions and the rationale to all employees to increase transparency to these decisions. We continue to look for ways to improve decision making and communication. We also encourage our employees to continue conversations about personal career development opportunities.

      Great team to work with, not so great leaders to work for!

      Pros

      Relaxed work environment, great benefits, ROWE, innovative company, free fruit and bagels, coffee bar, monthly happy hours, and the employees are awesome people to work with.

      Cons

      It's all about the politics. Allow me to repeat myself - it's all about the politics. If you're not in with that "special group" of people, you can forget about promotion, advancement, etc. and very few people are in that group. Edmunds talks a good game about being the best place to work in LA, but the actions of the Executive Team rarely back it up. Everyone outside of the executive team is viewed as replaceable and one mistake away from being unemployed.

      A company that is structured like a bank - everyone is a VP, competent or not.

      Pros

      The company is located in the beautiful Santa Monica. The office space and decor is modern. Compensation is fairly paid. It has good 401k, dental and vision benefits. The company promotes promotion from within.

      Cons

      The company organization structure is like a bank. The number of VPs and Executives in this company can rival a bank. There's a department in Edmunds that illustrates this point perfectly. This department has 5 employee: a Sr VP, an Exec Director, a Mgr, and an administrator. Basically, everyone is a manager and only one person who is doing most of the work. Promoting from within sounds great. However, when an incompetent leader promoted another incompetent leader, the company gets a bunch of incompetent leaders who are now running the company. Good people are leaving, because who would want to report to a supervisor who is incompetent?
