Pros

Nobody really bothers you as long as your over budget. The commission can be good if you use the platinum preferred vendors its bonus money you can earn.

Cons

Lot of management changes do to the amount of sales representative that have left the company. Entirely too many sales meeting almost 2 a week ether a conference call or vendor meeting. Entirely too much red tape on every corner you turn. Very poor systems almost gets to be too much to keep up with! A simple job that's almost unbearable at times due to the amount of questions and processes you will go through to get an order put through. Management doesn't like answering questions about how to fill out a form or authorizing a credit for a customer. It's seems getting a pickup or a credit for a customer is not a priority. You just have to have to laugh sometimes. Overall a solid company though they make a lot of money especially on the national account side. Not flexible in any kind of way when it comes to dealing with street accounts. I could go on but they are the best company on this side of the industry when you look at our competitors.

Pros

Lots of long-term employees, which probably just indicates "status-quo" is acceptable here. Ok work life balance. Several levels of health insurance benefits offered.

Cons

Old boy politics, old boy management. Stale ideas. Uninspired and uninspiring management. Little room for growth outside of their IL headquarters. Poor communication between departments that even seem unwilling to work together at times. Surprisingly, the customer is often blamed for the companies inefficiencies.

Pros

Despite their approach to handling their sales force i made a lot of money with them.

Cons

When i first started with this company in the late 70s it was the finest best orginized company i had ever worked for. the sales management was tops many salesmen were making $75,000 to $100,000 per year. This was in the 70s so think what that would be in income now! Suddenly everything changed and went crazy! People who had never sold a thing were put in charge of salespeople with a Gestapo attitude towards them. If you figured out their system and started making good money then the management became jealous because you were making more money than they were. Then they were constantly trying to do territory splits to drop your income! When I first started with this company salespeople were treated with utmost respect and if you were a big hitter they could not do enough for you! Why because the owners respected money makers as if you were making it they were really making it! After 40 years from being gone from this company i am amazed they are still operating this way!!
